Jia Xuan blinked her large eyes. She'd just woken up, a little dazed and adorably silly, her gaze clear and dewy.
She really couldn't tell if this was a dream or reality. But the cool scent filling her nose, the strength in the arms holding her, and the warmth of this embrace were all unbearably familiar, solid and real.
She wasn't sure—had he really jumped over from the balcony?
Lingtuo didn't speak either, just quietly looked at her. The girl's expression was a bit blank. Faint moonlight spilled over her small face, blurring into a hazy allure, just like all those times in the past when she woke in his arms, blinking those baby-like, wide eyes full of curiosity.
He loved her most at moments like this. Every time he saw her like this, his heart ached with a different kind of tenderness; he wanted to protect her from every hurt, and even more, to take the best things in the world and lay them before her, just to coax out one smile.
