Special News Report!
"Currently, Celadon City is under attack by the criminal organization Team Rocket."
"The organization first seized control of the Silph Company building, stealing the newly developed Master Ball, and established an underground research facility beneath the Game Corner in Celadon City."
"They have been conducting illegal experiments on Pokemon, creating terrifying creatures that have caused massive destruction throughout the entire city."
"President Silph has been successfully rescued, but the crisis remains unresolved. Many Trainers in Celadon City are currently fighting against Team Rocket under the leadership of Elite Four Champion Lance."
"This station will continue to monitor the developing situation and hopes that Celadon City can overcome this crisis as quickly as possible!"
News about the current situation in Celadon City had spread rapidly, even though only a few hours had passed since the crisis began.
Television news channels across the region were now broadcasting live coverage of the events unfolding in Celadon City.
As one of the largest and most prosperous cities in the entire Kanto region, the attack had naturally attracted worldwide attention.
The situation had become so dangerous, with Team Rocket deploying such large numbers of operatives, that the Pokemon League had received urgent reports and immediately dispatched additional Elite Four members to Celadon City.
Cinnabar Island
Inside the Cinnabar Gym, Blaine, who had recently given important items to Gary, was also watching the news coverage.
Not only was the television broadcasting the reports, but his phone was also active. The person on the other end appeared to be watching the same coverage.
"I never expected the thing I feared most would actually happen!" came a voice from the phone, both cold and filled with regret.
"Yes! I should have destroyed all those evil research projects before I left Team Rocket!" Blaine sighed heavily after hearing his friend's words.
The voice belonged to his closest friend. Both men had been born on Cinnabar Island and were exceptionally gifted researchers who shared similar interests and goals.
They had once been research rivals, competing with each other in their studies. Later, both had joined Team Rocket simultaneously and participated in the Mewtwo research project together.
The two friends were remarkably similar in many ways. They were nearly the same age, equally talented, both born on Cinnabar Island, and had known each other since childhood.
In their later years, both men had been blessed with lovely granddaughters. Although one now lived on Cinnabar Island while the other resided in Lavender Town, they maintained close contact despite the distance.
However, their paths had diverged tragically. Blaine's granddaughter had passed away, while his close friend Dr. Fuji's granddaughter continued to grow up healthy and happy.
Blaine's granddaughter had died because of his dangerous research. Overwhelmed by guilt, Blaine had abandoned his scientific pursuits and left Team Rocket permanently.
Dr. Fuji had watched his friend become increasingly obsessed with research, ultimately losing his granddaughter because of those very experiments.
Dr. Fuji, who also deeply loved scientific research, suddenly realized he was terrified that his own granddaughter might face the same tragic fate someday. This fear drove him to decisively abandon his research and quit Team Rocket alongside his friend.
Now one served as a Gym Leader, while the other had opened an orphanage in Lavender Town, both trying to make amends for their past actions.
"There's no point in blaming yourself now that events have unfolded this way. Let's focus on finding a way to make up for our mistakes!" Hearing Blaine's self-recrimination, Dr. Fuji offered comforting words.
"You're right! I've entrusted the solution to a young man!" Blaine responded quietly.
"A young man?" Dr. Fuji sounded surprised over the phone. Such an important matter had actually been handed over to a youth?
"That's correct."
"You gave such a crucial responsibility to a child instead of handling it yourself?" Dr. Fuji expressed his skepticism after hearing this explanation.
It wasn't that he looked down on young people, but he felt that such dangerous matters should not be entrusted to a child, especially considering this was their responsibility to fix.
"I understand your concerns, but this is a child who deserves our trust. I believe that if you met him, you would agree with my decision!"
Blaine looked at the television screen with a reassuring smile spreading across his weathered face.
"Really? It's rare to hear you speak so highly of anyone. I'm genuinely looking forward to meeting this young man." Although the two friends could say their lives had followed almost identical paths, their personalities were quite different.
Since childhood, Blaine had been someone who pursued perfection in everything he attempted. He had developed a difficult temperament and could be extremely stubborn about his beliefs.
Dr. Fuji, on the other hand, was different in nature. While he genuinely loved research, unlike Blaine who pursued success in everything, he possessed a much kinder and more compassionate personality.
After so many years of friendship, this was indeed the first time Dr. Fuji had heard Blaine speak so positively about a young person.
"I think there will be an opportunity for you to meet him!" Blaine responded calmly.
His greatest hope now was that everything would work out in time. Although he had successfully developed a device to solve the current problem, he wasn't certain whether that crucial item had reached Ash's hands yet.
Ever since Team Rocket had captured Moltres, Blaine had correctly guessed Team Rocket's ultimate purpose and learned about the ongoing conflict between Ash and the criminal organization.
Knowing that Ash would continue fighting against Team Rocket, Blaine had restarted his research after Ash's departure from Cinnabar Island. For the first time in years, he had resumed his scientific work to develop a solution to counter Team Rocket's plan involving the fusion of the three legendary birds.
Unfortunately, he hadn't known about the plan in advance, so he couldn't provide the solution to Ash personally. Later, when Gary had arrived at Cinnabar Island, Blaine had learned about the close relationship between Gary and Ash.
He had then entrusted the crucial device to Gary, hoping that Gary would be able to deliver it to Ash when they next met.
Blaine hadn't expected Team Rocket to move so quickly with their plans. After capturing Moltres, he hadn't realized that Zapdos and Articuno were already in their possession, so his timing seemed to be cutting it very close.
"Currently, the Pokemon created by Team Rocket continue destroying the city, while Champion Lance is doing everything in his power to stop them."
"Wait! A young man riding a Charizard is approaching the scene! According to reports from our field correspondents, this young Trainer single-handedly infiltrated the Silph Company building that had been occupied by Team Rocket and successfully rescued President Silph along with all the employees who were trapped inside the building."
The live television coverage of the events in Celadon City focused primarily on the crisis involving the three legendary birds. The moment Ash appeared on camera, he immediately drew the attention of viewers everywhere.
"Ash! It looks like we made it in time!" The instant Blaine saw the television camera focus on the young Trainer, his expression changed noticeably, and then a look of profound relief spread across his face.
Blaine had spotted the distinctive box in Ash's hand - the same device he had entrusted to Gary for delivery.
"Ash? Is this young man the boy you mentioned?"
