Pursing his lips, Azriel averted his face from her gaze. He seemed to be doing that rather often now, with nothing else left to do but hide from her red eyes, red as the crimson strands running through the latter half of her hair.
'Do not hate, resent, or detest. You are not alone anymore.' Those were the words she had once told him, the day she made him her Apostle.
Azriel found it hard to believe. Not that he thought she was lying. For some reason, he simply knew she was telling the truth. And yet, even so, hearing all of this, all about himself, about someone he could not even remember being, was that truly him? It was difficult to believe.
That shame seemed to linger still on her face, and even in her eyes now that Azriel could see them clearly.
