Alaric felt a pounding in his chest. Just what was it that he absorbed? But he did not think too much about it as he already had the answer when the array first absorbed. It was the Soul...
A concept he was becoming familiar with in each every passing moment. The array was a very familiar one and it was the same one that he had used to take down Joan. He had just casually created it but the result was beyond anything he could even bring his mind to wrap around.
The name he had given it... Carnage. This was an array that he was able to casually form and he never really took it seriously and he expected that its strength would be just enough to finish the group with just laser beams but it was the opposite.
Instead, it was akin to using a bomb to get rid of a mosquito. The end result was the same but it was just an overkill. Thinking this far, Alaric realized that he had to take it seriously.
Now that he thought about it, what if he had just activated it in public and he ended up with the same result? Wouldn't he be called a true demon and maybe they would come after his life? This was another attack mode he was never going to use in public.
Alaric looked at the array behind him and he saw a familiar shadow behind the array. It was Death. He could somehow feel the glare coming from the shadow. It was angry and Alaric could understand all too well why.
This array was something that messed with death. The only time Death would appear was when it wanted to carry a life. Not just a life but a Soul! What did the array just do? Didn't he just steal five Souls from death?
The realization made him shudder. Just what were the implications? He looked at the corpses as if they could be called so and he knew that Sarah had just left him something huge. An anomaly...
An array of that caliber was surely not existent any more. With the disappearance of the Soul, it was just too difficult and that was not the only thing. From what he sensed in the array, not just anyone could create it and it was even possible he was the only one who could activate it.
He looked at the shadow behind the array again and chuckled. This was the second time he had stolen a life from death, the first time was his own life. He could not help but wonder,
Now that he had the Souls, how was he going to even use them? He was not just any demon who would just go out absorbing Souls... With the ease he was creating the array, he could tell that he was the creator and he could not help but wonder just why and how he used it.
Realizing that his thoughts would end up in a dead end, he discarded the thoughts as he closed his eyes and complex gears of arrays shone in his pupils and a blue array appeared covering the entire alleyway and the bodies were all destroyed leaving not a single evidence of their existence. Even the signs of a battle could not be seen.
He waved his hand and the array behind him or rather say, Carnage, vanished into thin air. But when it disappeared into his body he just strayed away in his thoughts once again as he felt his heart pounding.
He had been thinking of a way to awaken the Soul of late and he did not have a single clue on the starting point. He promised to awaken Aurora's Soul first but he did not know where to start but now he had just a clue of where to start.
In order to absorb the Souls of the gang, Alaric sure felt a chain tear through the barrier that kept the Soul locked away. It tore through the barrier as though it was non existent. This was a huge leap and if he felt that he had to study the array before, he sure felt that he could not move on without studying the array.
The secret to unsealing the Soul was hidden within the array. If he could know how the array worked, he would create a backdoor path to destroy the barrier. One thing he was certain about though was that there was going to be a resounding shock and change very soon when he found the way.
With that, he could feel some weight lift off of his shoulders and he could feel that the path ahead of him was greatly dependent on the Soul...

People meet for various reasons. Others come for fun, others due to need while others are meet by accident. But on such an auspicious day where this meetimg only took place once a month, people really had to meet for the reasons above.
Today was the auction day. The biggest in Origin Region and also among the top in the Empire. On such a day, almost every other business would loose its customers.
This was because people usually started saving early. This greatly lowered the sales and during the actual day for the auction, other businesses had to close. The auction house was a huge place. It could fit not more than ten thousand people non a normal day.
This normal day was a normal once in a month. But there was usually a mega auction that took place once every six months. On such a day, it was usually packed to the brim.
People from all over Origin Region and the neighbouring ones did not let go of this chance. On such a day, it was impossible for normal people to get anyrhing they wanted because everything that requires six months to prepare could be anything but normal.
Some people who were usually in the auction house were those who had gotten rare treasure and they could not get a decent amount from the Guilds and thus had to wait for the auction.
Others were weapon crafters and others were pill refiners. There were even slaves to be sold on some rare ocassions. It was common to find exotic creatures which would go at prices some would only dream about ever owning.
It was common knowledge that for those who brought their goods to be auctioned, they had to pay a certain percentage from the total amount sold. When one looked above the city, one could think that it was a holiday.
This was due to several factors. One being that almost all businesses were closed. Some streets were empty but some seemed to be fully packed. Crowds all heading towards one direction as though that was where the event was going to take place.
The expensive carriages were another factor. They appeared to be the leaders of whatever the gathering was taking place from what it appeared like. Many were drawn by various beasts some carriages being drawn by white wolves which were in the Salvia Plane.
Their red eyes made them especially fear inducing. They had an insignia that many would recognize. A black wolf head on the jaded carriage's side bearing its fangs out. This was non other than the Louis Family. It was not the only family with carriages and others of the same caliber snaked towards the center of the city. To the auction house.
The fact that these big families dared to make an appearance meant that there was something good in the auction house today. It appeared that someone had ' leaked ' the cream pie for today. The final product . This was because even Sects had sent their people here. It appeared that the event of today was going to be entertaining.
Those observing could not help but get excited. These families and Sects would clash during the auction. Throwing away money as though it was leaves instead. It was still early and it appeared that the sun was almost reaching overhead.
The auction house was actually the biggest and tallest building in the city. Guards manned every corner of the building. It was a huge city hall with several storeys but the middle of the building was left hollow.
At the centre though, was a platform with a single raised high table. The early floors could fit not less than five hundred people. The auction house had 10 floors and the higher one went, the lesser the seats in the floor were.
As for the bottom floor, it could hold a thousand people or more. These were obviously commoners who could not even afford the first floor. They were especially here to cheer and see the rich throw their money away. Also, it had no seats and the peope here had to stand.
But it was going to be shocking soon enough hecause it was going to be filled to the brim with others being forced to stay out and forget enjoying the upcoming show.
The first floor to the fifth floor were slightly better than the lower floor. They could host no less than 500 each. The only distinguishing factor was that there were seats. The first floor having less than 100 seats and everyone had to stand.
The second floor had 200 and so on while the fifth floor had 500 seats. These seats were all equal and the only saving grace was that they were benches. Yet people would still scramble for them. The first floor was less expensive than the coming ones though everyone including those who would stand up were going to pay the same entrance fee.
As for the bottom floor, it was free. For the first floor it was 1,000 blue essence stones and the fifth floor was 5,000 blue essence stones. At least for the fifth floor, you would have a seat.
For the first floor, it was a gamble. Either you found a seat or you failed. From the fifth floor to the sixth floor was a massive leap. The sixth to the seventh floor were somewhat special with no benches.
For one, they could carry no more than 200 people. With the eighth floor capped at 150. The difference was that in these two floors, there were coaches rather than benches. There were normal tables for each table but no food was served.
The price though was a staggering 20,000 Blue essence stones for the sixth floor and 30,000 for the seventh floor. Those who could afford these rooms were obviously on top of the food chain of the human economy. But that was not where everything ended.
The eighth floor and the ninth floor were classy. Lavishly decorated with flowers and appealing colours and even curvings and paintings. The eighth floor carried less than 100 and the ninth floor carried not more than 50 people.
There were tables on each coach which appeared to be created using beast fur and it was obvious the wood they were created with was high class as well. Not to mention the marble tiles on the floor.
Food was served here and a waiter on each coach and one could request for their services as long as they did not cross the limits. What was allowed was maybe a shoulder massage at worse a back massage.
For the prices though, for the eighth floor, it was 100,000 blue essence stones and and for the ninth floor, it was a staggering half a million. The reason for the large leap in the ninth stage was because not just any food was served.
The rooms were specially enclosed and an array was created to protect those in the outside from seeing what was happening in the ninth floor. Being in the ninth floor was where top class families were found. As for the tenth floor...
