The jungle was loud. Birds squawked in the trees. Bugs buzzed by my ears. I even heard a monkey scream in the distance. But the loudest sound was the pounding of my feet on the wet ground... and the sound of branches breaking behind me.
I didn't want to look back. I was too scared to. What if it was a wild animal? What if it was something worse?
I ran faster.
