Chapter 81 - The Chase

Ji Eun sucked in a breath. "Hyun Woo..."

He didn't answer. He lowered his head and kissed her. It wasn't gentle this time.

Not cruel, never sloppy, just intensely deliberate, like a statement he was tired of repeating with words. Ji Eun's first instinct was to shove him away.

Her second - more frightening - was that she didn't immediately succeed.

Because his hand at her waist anchored her, his other palm braced against the desk edge, caging her in without crushing her.

Heat rushed to her cheeks - pure fury, pure shock.

And something else she refused to name.

She broke the kiss with a sharp push against his chest. "How dare you..." she hissed, breathing uneven. Hyun Woo didn't step back at once. He stayed close enough that she could feel the warmth of him, his breath brushing her skin.

"You wanted a reaction," he murmured, voice low. "You got one."

Ji Eun's eyes burned. "You're insane."

His gaze flickered - almost tender, almost dangerous.

"Maybe," he said quietly. "But you're still here."

Ji Eun swallowed hard, furious at her own body for flushing, furious at the way her pulse refused to settle. She lifted her hand - half-ready to slap him. But he caught her wrist again, not forceful, just… sure.

"Don't," he murmured.

Ji Eun glared. "Or what?"

Hyun Woo leaned in just enough to steal the air between them without kissing her again.

"Or I'll forget we're in your office," he said softly.

And just the implication of closeness—of losing control, made her stomach twist with anger and awareness. Ji Eun yanked her wrist free, stepping back, voice cold as ice.

"Get out."

Hyun Woo straightened slowly, adjusting his cuff as though he hadn't just undone her breathing.

"Soon," he said.

Ji Eun's eyes narrowed. "Now."

He studied her for a long moment, then his lips curved faintly.

" See you tonight," he said instead, like it was already agreed.
