Chapter 6 - Chapter VI-The Beginning of Us

~ Arthur POV ~

I originally came to this village to handle some important stuff with my assistant—and also my friend—Rowan. A few days after we arrived, I found out there was going to be a festival. And even though I'd officially become an adult a few months ago, it was still pretty rare for me to enjoy life without thinking about responsibilities.

After leaving a talkative Rowan behind in some random alley, I decided to explore on my own.

At the center of the village, people were dancing and laughing, and that's when my eyes landed on a boy—a bit shorter than me—who somehow stood out, even if no one else seemed to notice him.

He looked a bit awkward around the villagers and the kids, but his smile was fascinating—so full of pure, genuine joy.

Sadly, I couldn't stay any longer because Rowan showed up and told me he'd lost our purse—the one with the contract we'd gotten a few days ago.

Frustrated, I glanced back toward the square, but the boy had already disappeared. So I went off to look for the missing bag.

Bam!

After knocking the thief to the ground, I checked his jacket. There were four wallets, including one really small.

Suddenly, a dog ran up, barking, and stopped in front of me, tail wagging. A few seconds later, a boy appeared, out of breath.

I thought he might be working with the thief, so I asked him some questions, but he didn't say anything.

I stepped closer to get a better look at his face. He stepped back.

Then a beam of moonlight hit him.

I recognized him—it was the same boy from the square who had caught my eye earlier.

By the end of our silent little standoff, he was backed up against the wall, almost in my arms.

That night, I met the most beautiful person I'd ever seen.

A cute boy. A cute Leo.
