"Wake up. Stop wasting my time already."
For most people, waking up is something pretty normal—like, for example, being gently woken by birdsong.
For me? It's a bucket of ice-cold water.
After this daily ritual, courtesy of my maid, I ignored her like usual and got dressed. Same clothes as always—a white shirt with sleeves that were way too short, and gray pants. Then I headed outside, mostly to avoid her for the rest of the day.
The garden was the only place where I ever felt free. It had been that way since I was a kid.

"Gaïa, come on—stop licking me." I said, laughing as I was greeted by a wet tongue to the face.
My only real friend was a dog I'd rescued from a hunting party two years ago. She kept coming back to me, so I ended up naming her Gaïa.
They let me keep her—probably because they didn't care about me or what I did.
She had black, white, and brown fur, with a white patch on her nose and hazel eyes.
To some people, my life might look pretty miserable. But for me, this was just normal. It had always been like this—ever since I first opened my eyes.
You're probably wondering why. Well… one of my eyes is blue, like the rest of my family.
But the other one is green.
And here, only witches have green eyes.
So now, I live in an old abandoned tower with a bunch of maids and guards who hate me.
At least I have Gaïa.
