In an instant, Kakashi's figure faded, his body vanishing like mist blown by the wind. Not far from there, in a quieter alley away from the hustle and bustle, Kakashi reappeared, but now, he was no longer Kakashi. His face and body had transformed into Shino.
Shino moved with clear intent, crossing through the dilapidated alleyways until he arrived at the Southern District. On the roof of an old house that looked like it was on the verge of collapse, two men were monitoring the house below. They sat in silence, like shadows merging with the night.
Without a sound, Shino appeared behind them.
"What's going on?" one of the men, Konohamaru, immediately turned around with a wary expression.
Shino didn't answer immediately. He merely glanced toward the house that was their focus, before speaking in a flat tone. "How is the woman?"
Konohamaru relaxed his shoulders, recognizing Shino's voice. "The woman and her daughter are still living well enough. Nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary. But I think you didn't come here just to ask about them, right?"
Shino gave a slight nod. "The Academy City will be attacked," Shino said, his voice turning serious. "And it's highly likely that Fortress City 085 will also be attacked, either from the outside, from within, or perhaps both. I need to make sure everything is fine here. Although I can do it with Ninjutsu, there are things that can only be understood by being present."
Konohamaru exchanged glances with the man beside him, Kakashi—or at least the Clone using that name.
"We haven't seen anything unusual here," Kakashi replied, casual yet confident. "The woman remains cheerful as usual, living her life peacefully. But seriously, we've been monitoring them for months. Isn't it time we met them face to face? This is starting to feel pointless."
"I agree," Konohamaru chimed in, nodding. "We've been watching them from afar for so long. Maybe talking to them directly would be a better move."
Shino fell silent for a moment, his eyes staring blankly at the house they were watching. Shino sighed heavily, filled with doubt. "It's not that I don't want to. But if I meet them, then what? Should I force them to move to another district? Take them to a safer place? And if they refuse, what can I do? That's why I choose not to meet them."
Kakashi shrugged, trying to hide his frustration. "Even so, this is really annoying. It doesn't feel right spying on someone, especially a woman who knows nothing, and a little girl who might be..." Kakashi paused for a moment, his voice lowering. "... Our daughter. This feels wrong."
Konohamaru nodded in agreement. "Yeah, there's something about all of this that makes me uncomfortable. But what can we do to change any of this?"
Shino lowered his head, his face shadowed with doubt and frustration. "I know this is complicated, but there's not much we can do about it," Shino said softly. His voice almost drowned in the wind.
