"But haven't they been inactive lately? What made them decide to attack the Academy City? Isn't that place heavily guarded? And what is their goal in attacking the Academy City? Don't they usually just kidnap people with Anomalies or Abnormal abilities? Why go through the trouble of directly attacking the Academy City?"
A rapid series of questions escaped Arin's mouth, his voice filled with panic. Kakashi raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued.
"Why are you so panicked?" Kakashi asked, his tone sharper than usual.
"What? You're still asking?" Arin tried to steady himself, but his nervousness was hard to conceal. "Isn't it obvious? The Academy City is one of the important facilities of the Fortress City 085 Government Council. If they're bold enough to attack that place, doesn't it mean they can create massive chaos across Fortress City 085?"
Arin spoke quickly, as though searching for an excuse. But deep down, Arin knew there was another reason for his anxiety—his younger sister, Alina, was at the Academy City.
Kakashi looked at Arin intently, as if trying to read his thoughts. After a few seconds of silence, Kakashi let out a short sigh. "You're right," Kakashi finally said, his voice returning to a calm tone. "But I don't think it's something you need to worry about. It's better if you focus on taking care of yourself and stay out of this. The responsibility for the Academy City and Fortress City 085's security lies with the official organization."
Kakashi's casual tone irritated Arin slightly, but he didn't dare retort. Despite his laid-back demeanor, Kakashi always exuded an aura of authority that was hard to oppose.
"Even so..." Arin hesitated. While Kakashi's words were valid, they didn't address the core of Arin's concern. What troubled Arin was his sister, Alina.
If the Academy City were truly attacked by the Soul Collectors, Alina would surely be involved. Arin couldn't bear to imagine his sister facing such madmen. Just the thought of it made his heart race with anxiety.
"Don't worry too much about it," Kakashi said nonchalantly, though there was still firmness in his voice. "Even if you report this information to the official organization, they'll probably not take it seriously. At most, they'll send a few people to check things out. If they don't find concrete evidence, they'll ignore it."
Kakashi paused for a moment, then continued, "And don't forget, they might become suspicious of you. They'll try to figure out how you got this information while they didn't. Most likely, they'll think you have some ulterior motive or plan. If that happens, they might try to capture you for interrogation."
Kakashi's casual tone made his words sound even more ominous. Arin looked at Kakashi with a face full of worry, trying to process the bleak possibilities Kakashi had just laid out.
Although Kakashi's words seemed exaggerated, they made sense. Eighty percent of what he said felt highly likely. Arin fell silent, contemplating his next move. After a while, he decided to stop overthinking the big problem and focus on the more urgent matter: warning Alina to be extra cautious.
"Anyway, that's it. You did well," Kakashi said, breaking the silence. Kakashi took a step back, preparing to leave the inn room. "I've given you the money, so your job is done. I'm leaving now."
"Wait!" Arin suddenly called out, halting Kakashi's steps.
Kakashi turned around, an eyebrow raised. "What is it?" Kakashi asked, his voice reflecting confusion.
"That... uh..." Arin seemed hesitant, his hands nervously clasped together as if trying to gather the courage. "Are you really just going to let the Soul Collectors go like that? Let the official organization handle them?"
