"The doors have opened."
The guard's words echoed through the chamber.
For a moment, nobody moved.
Salvador stared at him.
"Are you certain?"
The guard nodded quickly.
"Yes, my prince. The entire North Wing shook. The doors opened by themselves, and the people inside began coming out."
Salvador's heart pounded.
"My mother?"
"I don't know."
He immediately turned toward the passage.
"We're going."
Ella caught his hand.
"I'm coming."
Salvador looked at her.
"You don't have to."
She gave him a look.
"Don't start."
He almost smiled.
"All right."
They hurried out of the ancient chamber.
Felix and Harvey followed closely behind them while the king and Aurelia remained near the guards.
The castle seemed completely different.
Every corridor was filled with golden light.
The walls, which had always been dark and cold, now carried faint glowing lines that moved like veins beneath the stone.
The bells continued ringing.
One after another.
