Dagar wanted to begin with evacuation records.
Merrit wanted to inspect the market.
Max refused both requests until the visitors explained what information they intended to take home.
"I want to know how quickly your population can move from exposed territory." Dagar said.
"Why?" Max asked.
"Because mine cannot move quickly enough."
Dagar's defensive captain shifted at the admission. The weakness was not a secret within their delegation, but stating it before strangers reduced the strength the captain wanted them to project.
Dagar noticed.
"We did not cross to pretend our systems are complete." he told the captain. "We could have done that from the Redoubt."
The captain lowered his gaze in acknowledgment.
Merrit gave a different answer.
"I want to know what people buy when a Dungeon Master does not own every stall."
Hizon leaned forward.
"You own every workshop in the Thousand Works."
