Veyrath wanted the temporary gate surrounded by soldiers.
Anna wanted the visitors to enter a room that did not look like a prison.
Both presented practical reasons.
"We do not know what abilities cross with a Dungeon Master." Veyrath said. "Sanctuary prevents violence. It does not prevent observation, escape, sabotage without an attack, or a power the core does not classify correctly."
"A line of soldiers tells them we invited them into a trap." Anna replied. "If we want honest discussion, the first thing they see cannot be our expectation that they will betray us."
Max stood in the unfinished receiving room while they argued.
The temporary gate would form against the northern wall. Two doors led into Sanctuary. One opened toward the public meeting hall. The other entered a controlled corridor Veyrath could close. The room contained no view of the core, portal operations, or routes into private territory.
Quin proposed a compromise.
