Kanis waited patiently for a while.
He had asked Aksai a question and expected an answer. However, as the seconds passed without receiving one, the atmosphere around them remained unchanged.
Aksai stood bound by the chains of Sword Shadows, his expression difficult to read. He neither answered Kanis's question nor showed any intention of cooperating.
Yet Kanis didn't grow angry.
He didn't even appear impatient.
Instead, the corners of his lips curled into a faint smile, as if Aksai's silence had been nothing more than an amusing little inconvenience.
"Seems like my threats had no impact on you."
As he spoke, Kanis reached for the hilt of his sword.
Shing!
The blade slid out of its sheath with a crisp metallic ring.
It wasn't an especially loud sound, but the moment it echoed through the surroundings, Aksai felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine.
Kanis held his sword casually, its blade reflecting the faint light filtering through the ruined Woodland Heart.
