Kendall and Lily didn't stay long at the orphanage.
Given their unique identities and the number of people around, it wasn't the right place for extended conversation.
The sisters returned to their temporary residence. Damien didn't join them but remained outside, keeping watch to ensure that news of Lily's "resurrection" wouldn't spread to a third party.
Inside the house:
Lily looked at Kendall with concern. "Sister, is the system that gave you the trial tasks still there?"
Before her resurrection, her consciousness had drifted between clarity and confusion. She couldn't remember where she was or what was happening. All she knew was that Kendall had made a contract with the system that would allow her to come back to life upon completion.
Kendall tried to summon the system as usual, intentionally focusing her consciousness but nothing happened.
"The system is gone…" Kendall said, her voice layered with complicated emotions.
