Chapter 100 - Chapter One Hundred: The Shadow's Vow

Vikram Rathod stood before the copper capacitor, his heart beating in the slow, rhythmic pattern of his father's cipher.

The solar eclipse was at its absolute peak. Above, the city of Mumbai was silent under the black sun.

"For Amar," Vikram whispered.

He drove his right fist straight into the center of the copper sphere.

An immense, blinding wave of bio-electric Prana and dark-photon Chaya erupted from his body, channeling directly into the capacitor. The circuit was complete.

The reactor shrieked, the purple-black vortex inside the Core reversing its spin. The red activation lights died, replaced by a blinding, white electrical storm.

Devendra Malhotra shrieked as the white energy engulfed him, his body vaporizing into black dust as the Core collapsed back into the spatial void.

The shockwave threw Vikram across the room. As he hit the floor, his vision went white.

An hour later, the sun broke through the clouds, casting warm, golden light over the stone arch of the Gateway of India. The black smog dissolved, and the streetlights of Mumbai flickered back to life.

On the stone steps, Rohan and Rhea pulled Vikram from the vault entrance. He was weak, his clothes burned, his skin pale, but his heart was beating.

"We did it, Vikram," Rohan said, his eyes filled with tears as he looked at the sun. "The light... it's back."

Vikram looked at the Gateway, then at his hands, which were no longer glowing. The shadow's vow had been fulfilled. Mumbai was free.
