That was when a sharp sound echoed.
The air grew heavy, pulsing with pressure. Kaido's eyes narrowed as Yuta stepped out of the dust, his scarf fluttering in the wind.
"Remember me, old man?" Yuta said, cracking his knuckles, a cocky grin spreading across his face. "I owe you one from back in the day. Get ready for a beating."
Of course, Kaido didn't understand a thing Yuta was talking about. Yuta's disguise had been much better than he'd even given himself credit for back then.
However, Kaido squinted, his drunken smirk fading. "That heartbeat… that power… You're the brat from Zou!" His voice turned into a growl as he recalled with his Haki.
"You punched me into the sea, you brat!" he roared, pure murderous emotion radiating from him. His Haki flared at the same time.
However, this time he didn't turn into a dragon. Last time, he'd been in that form and couldn't dodge Yuta's attack in time. Not this time.
Yuta tilted his head. "Sea?" Yuta genuinely forgot what happened all that time ago until Kaido literally reminded him.
"Ah, there's also that, right."
'Wait, does that mean he already got even with his "old sensei" back then? Since technically that incident took place after he trained under Kaido in the timeline, meaning he doesn't have a legit reason to seek revenge?'
Yuta's mind buzzed.
But ultimately, who cares? Why does he even need a reason to fight a villain in the first place? He's a Hero, dammit.
Kaido's aura exploded like a storm upon seeing the brat ignoring him. "You're dead!"
"Big words from lizard. Many tried, old man, not one succeeded. Let's see what you got. Just remember this — you're the challenger here." He motioned the Yonko to come at him as his own aura roared out.
His King's Engine thundered, his heartbeat booming like war drums. The ground beneath him cracked and split. Even from far away, the Straw Hats, Law's crew, and the samurai felt the oppressive force.
Nami held onto a wall, eyes wide. "Wh-What is that sound?!"
Kinemon's knees trembled. "Sir Yuta's as impressive as always… his presence rivals Kaido's!"
Momonosuke, trembling in dragon form, whispered, "Can he do it? Can he beat Kaido?"
None knew, but they intended to see this fight through.
Then it began.
Kaido swung his kanabo down with the force of a meteor, but Yuta vanished in a blur, reappearing behind him. His fist glowed.
Kaido's Haki warned him of the danger — this time even more so since Yuta had Ryou infused with his Haki.
However, just like earlier, Kaido couldn't dodge thanks to Yuta's Time Skip ability. How could he dodge something that hit him when he couldn't even move?
Ryou coated Yuta's arm like molten light. He slammed it into Kaido's ribs.
The explosion that followed split the air like a sonic boom. The shockwave sent debris flying for hundreds of meters, tearing through buildings like paper. Kaido's eyes bulged — the internal destruction ripped through him, making even his iron body ache.
Kaido stumbled back, clutching his side. "That's Haki… it's Ryou, isn't it?!"
Yuta cracked his neck, smirking. "Oh, you remember. Seems like Oden left behind more than that mark on your chest that day, isn't it, old man? How does it feel being pierced?"
Kaido roared in fury, spinning his kanabo. "Don't mock me, brat!" He launched himself forward, their clash creating sparks that lit up the sky. Every blow from Kaido crushed the earth, but every counter from Yuta tore through Kaido's guard.
The biggest problem was that, unlike the bull-headed One Piece characters, Yuta never just took the attack — he always dodged. And hitting him, with Observation Haki, Mangekyo ability, and Time Skip, was extremely hard.
And even if somehow Kaido managed to connect an attack, Rika's scarf kicked in and stopped the attack's momentum immediately.
He might not be able to win, but he sure as hell wasn't losing.
Though saying he couldn't win was still premature. The fight was just starting.
Law's crew ducked for cover as buildings collapsed. "This is insane!" shouted Bepo. "He's actually fighting that monster head-on!"
Luffy, half-conscious, opened his eyes weakly, watching Yuta's figure through the dust. "That guy… he's really strong…"
Of course, he was talking about Kaido. He already knew what Yuta was capable of.
He tried to get up, but his body was completely wrecked. Even his monstrous endurance needed time to heal.
His condition didn't stop the fight between those monsters, though.
Yuta dodged Kaido's next strike and slammed another punch into his stomach.
"ROFA 75 Shock Style Ryou Overdrive."
If the earlier attack was to test what Ryou could do, then this time it was delivered with the intent to kill.
This impact created a shockwave so violent it sent Kaido flying hundreds of meters through the air. He smashed through multiple hills before crashing down, creating a massive crater, coughing up blood.
"Holy shit!" Luffy's eyes widened to epic proportions.
Nami and the others watching from afar were left speechless.
"Perhaps we might not need your plan after all, Kinemon."
"Go, Yuta!"
They all cheered. However, the one who delivered the punch remained serious.
Yuta was staring at the place where Kaido had been blasted off to, his Observation Haki and Sharingan telling him exactly what was going on.
Kaido coughed up blood, his drunken haze completely gone. He got up slowly, veins bulging, eyes glowing with rage. "You… brat…"
'Even that didn't do it…' Yuta pursed his lips with irritation. That was his strongest attack — he poured everything into that.
Yes, Kaido's condition showed he was injured, really injured, and not like the scratches Luffy had given him earlier.
However, that attack wasn't able to kill Kaido when he wasn't even in his Hybrid form — his strongest form. Then even pouring multiple of those attacks on that dragon might not be enough.
Yuta couldn't say. Only testing it could explain whether it would work or not.
'Damn it, if only I could've figured out Conqueror's Infusion.' He clenched his hand with irritation. "If you're sobered up already, then stop wasting my time and come fight!" Yuta shouted.
Others might say he was taunting Kaido, but only he knew how fast his Hero Time burned away with all these powers active.
Normally, he handled most enemies with strong attacks from the beginning to avoid wasting time, but against this monster, every second of his Hero Time had to count.
For a moment, everyone stared — even the Beast Pirates watching from afar couldn't believe what they saw. Kaido, the unbreakable dragon, had been sent flying like a ragdoll.
Kaido wiped his mouth, grinning wide. "You've got bite, boy. Good… I'll crush you with my full strength!"
'And here it comes.' Yuta's eyes narrowed as Kaido's aura surged again, lightning crackling around him.
His body started to change as he finally entered his Hybrid form — both the dragon's durability and the human form's mobility combined.
The fight was only starting.
