Howard Winters was the one who changed my mind to ash the surface and rebuild it. This act changed the manner in which the Winters gathered information for archival. Howard did this by engaging in more pacifists means and in doing so helped a great number of people regardless of race. This pursuit of uplifting others for information became the crux of the Winters beliefs. This not to be mistaken as blind benevolence for a story, the information must still hold value to them. The Winters are also relatively easy to discern due to the pair of thick books hanging from their belt. One book for storing spells the other for notes and storing samples of flora/fauna. The exploits of Howard were only recorded by himself and he left the journals to his descendants. One of the journals however was hidden in the reaches of the Winters Archives. This journal contains the autopsy reports of my experiments with artificial mutation, unfortunate but worthwhile endeavor on Howard's part. However that journal also has the record of my astounding success, the creation of my son. Howard was also unaware that after I succeeded in creating Adam I placed him into suspended animation for 40 years to study the effects of successful artificial mutation. That journal details formulae that even Grandmasters would struggle to replicate aside from the artificial mutagens. However in the many years since Howard's disappearance the deepest portions of the archives are in lockdown and a chasm allows for access to the extremely dangerous upper levels of the archives. Even in the upper the levels there are volumes with extensive detail on methods of war. The Winters prior to Howard put an emphasis on access to the knowledge to make war despite my placing them in a neutral position as Lorekeepers. This led to them detailing many methods of unsavory warfare with the texts becoming more gruesome the further down. In Howard's private lab, hidden in the deepest part of the archives, rests the notebooks detailing the creation of sentient items and a manual for a spell called Soul Forge. However he disappeared and in his place in the Winters Manor, built into a mushroom near the opening of the chasm, appeared a mithril breastplate coated inside and out with runes. Many of the Winters dis survive the Cataclysm by hiding in the archives however all but Howard and his descendants were struck with two legendary grade curses. Howard's son, Henry, and his grandson, Anthony, were the only ones capable of getting near the breastplate. Henry decided to allow his son to wear when he had completed the Winters basic combat training and was ready to venture into Jackpot Tower. Henry had achieved many accomplishments in his 20 years after entering Jackpot Tower. Chief among them he developed standard ritual to cure rare curses. Secondly he made the Curse Eater Bands that are used to determine social status in Curse-Breaker City. However his magnum opus was the method to break one of two recorded artifact class curses. This was due an encounter with Gambit the First Gambler. The curse he suffers from is only artifact class because of its layers all causing similar effects. The full method was developed with hundreds of casts of Legend Lore and nearly a decade of deciphering the cryptic messages. The only downside was to remove the first layer they would have to find, kill, and deliver to Crown of Desire to Gambit. After that they would need to find all of the pieces to a Unique Cursed Wondrous item called Fate's Senet Board and with continuous work only the board and 4 pieces have been found. Fate's Senet Board and Pieces are collected and stored at Curse-Breaker City within the upper labs of the Archive Chasm. The upper labs are beneath the library portion and one of the only areas Howard disabled the security measures. Curse-Breaker City is the refuge of the Winters who chose to proliferate mass destruction. They are cursed to be reincarnated, incapable of hostility and creation of any original work. The only exception being Howard's descendants, the rest of the Winters have been reduced to below average artisans and targets of guilt-free torment. This is due to the Dwarves refusing to forget their part in pushing the High Elves to commit genocides. This results in a unique position for Howard's descendants as they are not only Abberant but, also unaffected by the Winters Curse. Due to being Aberrants they are shunned out of fear and often the targets for unnecessary violence. Henry rarely leaves Curse-Breaker due to such an incident however he made sure to prepare Anthony for his journey to Jackpot Tower and beyond. In the preparation Anthony was fitted with an exploration pack, 5 10ft rolls of white cloth, a large hooded cloak, two sets of common clothes, Winters Breastplate, two large books(One functioning as a spell book, the other for storing samples), 10 days of rations, a set of smith's tools, a shortsword, and Howard's Journal part 3. In addition Anthony received training to become an entry level Artficer as well as 1 year of dedication spell learning time before his departure.
