"Hello, your pizza is here." Shiller used the cellphone of the original delivery guy to make the call and said, "You might need to send someone down to get it because there's quite a bit. I probably can't bring it all up in one go... Okay, I'll wait for you right here at the gate."
As soon as he hung up, a flash of gold streaked past. A young man in a red uniform appeared in front of him and said, "Oh, thank you so much, sir. Where's our pizza?"
"Heavens! Are you The Flash? Is it really you?!" Shiller's tone completely changed, sounding like a very enthusiastic young fan with a bit of a Southern accent.
"Yes, but are you a fan of mine? I have fans in Gotham?" The Flash looked genuinely surprised. "I thought you all liked Batman."
"Don't joke around. How could I like that rich guy? He's not relatable at all. Only young heroes like you are my idols! By the way, I saw you used a great $18 coupon for the pizza order, didn't you?"
"Wow, you found out!" The Flash almost jumped up, saying, "I earned that through three days of missions! I even messed up two orders for it. They all said I was wasting time, but I saved a full 18 bucks!"
Shiller walked up, put an arm around his shoulder, and patted his back, saying, "Don't mind those people; they're all rich folks who don't understand the real world. Running this gig, I only make 8 bucks. $18 is a lot!"
The Flash was clearly pleased and said, "That's fantastic! Finally, someone understands me. But this coupon isn't hard to get; you just need to sign in for three consecutive days and complete some small tasks. I'll teach you..."
The Flash pulled his phone out from somewhere. Shiller also took out his phone. The Flash grabbed Shiller's phone to demonstrate how to operate it, letting his phone fall into Shiller's hands.
Shiller casually pressed a button, lighting up the screensaver, and then said with some surprise, "Oh, what's this... uh, the Justice League? This one is Batman, and this one is Superman?"
The Flash leaned over for a look, nodded, and said, "Yeah, we just took that. It's to celebrate the new base being established."
"And this one is Wonder Woman, right? I heard she's the Princess of the Amazon, quite an incredible figure." Shiller feigned a very impressed expression and shook his head.
"Ah, don't think of them too harshly," The Flash said while operating the phone, "Although they're all richer than me, we're still working together, and it's great being colleagues with them. Look, the event I was telling you about is right here..."
Shiller quickly learned how to get the coupon. Then he returned the phone to The Flash and took back his own, retrieved several people's worth of pizzas from the trunk, and said, "You can't carry all of this by yourself, right? Want me to help you bring it up?"
"No need, I'll just make another trip. You know I'm fast." The Flash smiled at him, vanished with a "whoosh," and soon reappeared to take the remaining drinks.
"Oh, by the way, your tip should have already been credited. Have a great day," The Flash waved to him and said.
Shiller waved back, smiled, said goodbye to him, and drove away from the new base.
On the way back, he pressed his earpiece and said, "The backdoor program has been installed on The Flash's phone. Check his phone for any important clues, and then arrange for surveillance."
There was silence from the other end for a moment, then a voice quickly replied, "Sorry, boss, there's absolutely no signal. It seems their side has blocked the network signal. We can't connect to the backdoor program from here."
"As expected." Shiller wasn't surprised at all and said, "Go find Miss Gordon and have her try to hack into the new base, see if she can find a way."
Just as Shiller was parking the car back in place and shoving the delivery guy back into the vehicle, his earpiece crackled with his subordinate's voice, "No can do, boss."
"Miss Gordon refused to cooperate?"
"No, she tried, but their network signal is so tightly shielded she can't hack in. She suggests you find someone to physically disable the signal interference, and then she'll make another attempt."
"Can her Oracle System find out where the jamming device is?"
"She's checking, but it's not looking good. The cameras around the base didn't capture any suspicious items... Ah, wait a minute. Anomalous optical phenomenon. Sending it over now, boss."
Shiller's phone quickly received a video. It seemed to be captured from a camera perched on some lifeguard chair, focused mainly on the ocean area where the lifeguard was in charge, with the lower right corner showing a portion of the new base.
Due to the new base construction and the fact that Magic was used in its construction, the nearby beach had been cleared out. Naturally, there was no one on the chair either. Barbara must have used some illegal means to hack the camera, but given that she's working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the means don't matter.
At the three-second mark in the video, a beam of light flashed across the sea surface. The footage immediately began to experience severe interference. In the last second of the video, Shiller saw an arc-shaped light shield rising from the sea.
He knew then that Batman's trip to Marvel's magical school wasn't fruitless. Seems he added a small Magical Defense Network to his new base.
