In the quiet grove atop the hill, Adam lay sprawled on the grass, his head resting on his interlocked hands as he looked up at the scarce canopy with a faint, gentle smile.
Anna sat beside him, and Valerian lay on her lap, purring in satisfaction. As she stroked the smooth fur on the cat's back, she turned to her little brother and intently studied him.
"You've changed so much," she said with a doting smile.
Adam replied with a soft sigh, "I guess I've been through a lot…"
"Do you want to talk about it?" Anna asked gently.
The raven-haired youth turned to her and asked, "What do you want to know?"
"Anything." Anna displayed a warm smile.
