Looking over Natsumi's parameters, Qin Shi Huang frowned. He was well aware of the Faker class—false ones, those who stole another's name to manifest on the Throne of Heroes.
Most of this class abused their privilege of "camouflage," impostors who used a hero's glory for their own benefit.
Their strength varied depending on the Heroic Spirit they usurped. They were notoriously difficult to detect, using camouflage so perfect that even Rulers were deceived. Because of that, these imitations could not be underestimated. Their powers were not mere copies and could change constantly.
And standing before this false "Eve," who was confident enough to reveal her identity and parameters, even abandoning her camouflage, this was very bad news.
Her parameters were clear, yet they seemed able to change at will. The question marks represented a variable he could not understand. Even with his superior intellect and parallel computational processing, if the "?" variable could not be resolved, then no matter how much he calculated, he would never be able to defeat Natsumi. A single different value could change the entire equation.
From what he had seen, Faker was extremely strong—to the point that he could not grasp the limits of her power, nor the scope of that strange transformation ability, or what exactly she could transform.
Not even a meteorite could stop her.
Qin Shi Huang knew it well.
He had kicked a rock.
Even against Mukuro, Qin Shi Huang trusted in his overwhelming calculations and believed he could defeat her. His talismans sealed even gods, and by extension the Authority of Heaven, not to mention sealing space-time itself. Yet out of all the possible "Eves" that could have appeared, he had to face Faker.
Natsumi was his nemesis.
"So what are you going to do, kid? Be obedient and stay here, or go against mommy?"
Of course, Natsumi had no idea what Qin Shi Huang was thinking. To her, this was just another walk in the park. Haniel was practically the same as having all the angels and the powers of the Spirits.
With the added bonus that she could copy any Noble Phantasm, Natsumi could come and go freely in this World War.
And her trump card—the Champion of Dreams—wasn't even worth mentioning. Using that would be like using a tank to kill a chicken. There was no need to push things that far.
"How arrogant. That pride will be your downfall."
His magical power surged. Qin Shi Huang raised his hand, and a talisman appeared. No matter what, he was still a mighty emperor who had unified the world in the Lostbelt.
He had many ways to attack beyond just the Wall…
"If that's how you see it, then I'll stop you right here, kid."
Natsumi didn't care. She smiled and waved her broom, which transformed into a mirror.
"Haniel—Kaleidoscope: Metatron!"
The Crown formed, and several pillars appeared beside Natsumi. This was just a small appetizer—the angel of extinction.
"So Natsumi doesn't want trouble, huh?"
"Hmph~ Natsumi-san is a liar. She said she'd leave it to us. She definitely did it so Darling would spoil her later… That's not fair!"
The battle in the sky brought the Wall to a halt. Kotori crossed her arms and smiled, while Miku pumped her fists and puffed out her cheeks.
All of them wanted Yuki to spoil them. Now that he was trapped on the Throne of Annihilation, there wasn't much time for affection. This was a nightmare for them, which was why they were more than enthusiastic about the idea of Yuki leaving the Throne. Only then would they get their own as well.
It was a win-win. Besides, what woman would accept her husband staying on a Throne all day, every day? None of them wanted to go through that again.
Mukuro had even started showing signs of withdrawal because of it. I suppose the saying is true—women change once they've climbed the road to adulthood.
"It doesn't matter. Onii-chan will be here soon… so you'd better give up, Saint."
Kotori explained to Miku, shaking her head as she spoke. She then turned toward where Jeanne was waving her Flag. She hadn't surrendered.
"Mooouuu~ cutie, you're here… Could it be you've thought it over and want to be mine?!"
Miku's eyes lit up as she reached out. Jeanne did everything she could to resist that strange feeling of revulsion.
This Yuri girl was too much.
"I won't let you destroy this world! We are legends! Beings of the past—we can't decide humanity's future!"
"Who says we can't? We're the Progenitors. We can do whatever we want with our children."
Like a Berserker, Kotori fully embraced her role as a progenitor of humanity. The flames around her were so convincing that Jeanne's Flag fluttered violently.
"But you're not our mother—you're a fake! All of you are fakes! Monsters who defied the Creator!"
In legend, there was only one Eve, and that was true. If there was more than one, then there was only one explanation—they were fake.
Eves created to replace the one who was once the mother of humanity. Even the Thrones were not real Eves.
Unlike Adam, who held suppression over all his descendants and inspired an instinctive fear in all humans at the mere sight of him, these Eves did not give off that feeling. They only radiated a suffocating aura, but not fear.
And the maternal aura with which Eve had raised humanity was nowhere to be found in these women.
As if they had never given birth to a child before.
Thus, Jeanne had reached the conclusion that these Eves were not the true mother of humanity.
Something had happened in Genesis—something terrifying had happened to "Eve," and Adam had gone mad, becoming a monster.
There was no other explanation. Adam was the protector of his children, the origin of the protective male instinct of an entire race. He loved them so deeply that he would not hesitate to fight the Gods for their sake. That was why it made no sense for him to want to destroy humanity.
Jeanne didn't know it, but she had a feeling that if she could fix this, the monster would stop.
"You're quite perceptive, Saint…"
Kotori neither denied nor confirmed her theory. After all, they themselves were not the progenitors of this world. Yuki was—at least in theory—together with Inori.
They both shared the Apocalypse Virus and were the creators of a new race. It was true that Yuki was undoubtedly Adam, but until he had children with Inori, his title as Progenitor was not yet his.
Therefore, as Champion, his protective and valiant aura was not meant for humanity. It was for the world—and for his own.
Something humanity could not understand.
"But even if you know that, there's nothing you can do. Onii-chan has made his decision, and his descent into this world is inevitable…"
She pointed to the top of the tower, where Eggy had arrived and was preparing to open the Gates that connected this world.
"You're too late…"
"Damn you, Darnic!"
Vlad III avoided every obstacle thanks to his vampiric nature, following the guidance of the contract he had made with Darnic.
He swore to kill that traitor for breaking his promise to never use that Noble Phantasm.
With his claws stained by the blood of the homunculi on the ground who had been protecting the Masters of Yggdmillennia, Vlad III turned into mist and continued descending. He was nearing the base of the crystal tower…
Bam
Unfortunately for Vlad III, his incorporeal body was stopped by an invisible barrier. Even as mist, Eggy's real barrier could not be crossed by a vampire. Eggy had created it with a one-way law—anyone could leave, but no one could enter.
"Impossible! How can a barrier stop me here?!"
Using his claws, Vlad III tried to tear open a breach, but it was useless against a real barrier. His attack was like a mosquito bite—to the point that Eggy didn't even move.
"Hm?"
Suddenly, Vlad III froze. As a vampire, he was highly sensitive to the presence of humans, especially Heroic Spirits—and one of them was approaching.
"You're in trouble. Do you need my help?"
"Eh?"
At that moment, he heard a familiar voice. Vlad III turned his head, and walking slowly toward him was Avicebron.
"Caster, you too…"
After experiencing the betrayal of his entire faction, along with his Master, Vlad III was wary—especially of a Caster, a class infamous for being unscrupulous and malicious.
"No. Unlike the others, I wasn't controlled. I'm a Caster—the brainwashing doesn't work on me…"
