Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: Birthright and Signature

Raven let a happy hum out as he danced around the attacks of Shirou and Rin. A kick sent Shirou away and right into Rin, both had a spear pointed at their chest in just a moment.

"Victory!" Raven cheered as both groaned in pain.

"Shocker." Rin sarcastically said as she shoved Shirou off of her and got up. Shirou grumbled on the ground before he got up, his wounds healing slightly faster then Rin's due to him formerly holding Avalon inside of him before it was returned to Artoria.

Speaking of Artoria, she stood to the side trying to hide a small laugh behind her hand.

"Wait, what time is it?" Raven asked himself as he spotted the setting sun in the distance, a quick spell revealed it was fifteen till nine.

"Fuck." Raven said and vanished into a portal.

"Guess even magicians fear something besides themselves." Rin said torn between amusement, confusion and fear. Because what could scar the first magician who could put up a good fight against Artoria of all people!?

"Made it on time!" Raven cheered as he arrived in the underworld.

"On time for what?" A voice asked in a sweet tone, it promised pain if the answer was not the one they wanted.

"I sense I should not answer this." Raven said as he turned to see Hades, Persephone and Melinoe at a dining table, food sat there, but uneaten.

"Smart answer, now change and sit." Persephone said and Raven did so, his clothes changing to something a bit nicer for dinner.

Dinner was a silent, but peaceful affair.

"Now what could cause you to be late?" Persephone asked as they moved to the living room. Raven had his head sitting on her lap, the other two were on the other couch.

"I may or may not have been fighting against a sword and it's sarcastic wielder." Raven said and the goddess sighed.

"I figured it was something like that." She said with a sigh as she ran her hand through his hair. He smiled and let a small hum out as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

"He totally let himself fall asleep to avoid the talk." Persephone said annoyed, but a small soft smile formed on her face.

"He's very tired though. Plauged by nightmares of something golden." Melinoe said with a hint of concern for her surrogate little brother.

"Nightmares?" Hades asked a touch concerned. Something that would give his son, because Hades will die on that hill, nightmares was something to take seriously.

"Yes, it's something large and golden, but his natural barriers prevent me from seeing anything more." Melinoe revealed and Hades frowned. He could think of nothing golden and large that would be able to give Raven nightmares.

"It's clearly something if it's affecting the little sleep he gets." Persephone said concerned. She just wanted her son to be ok!

"We can only hope he opens up." Hades said as the two females frowned furthur.

Raven sighed as he opened his eyes after Hades had dropped him off on the bed he had in the home that houses the underworld gods of Greek mythology.

He hadn't fallen asleep, ok well he had, but his senses still operated at full capacity, so he heard the conversation.

"This is not something they should deal with." Raven sighed and then frowned as he stared at the pieces of paper he had sitting on his desk. With a grunt he got up and created a pen as he started filling out some paperwork.

"Perhaps, not everything needs to be a nightmare, but a pleasant dream." He smiled as he finished the last piece of paperwork and stored it into a folder. With a flick of his hand the folder was stored into a box and wrapped tightly. A late Christmas present.

He snapped his fingers as it vanished to arrive when he wanted it to.

With a slightly fond smile he opened a portal and vanished, it was time to return to Hogwarts.

•~~~~•

Raven smiled as he sat at the teachers table with an amused look as he watched the happiness of everyone chatting away with friends after the long time of winter break.

He can't wait to assign some super homework assignment to them for sheer amusement. He'd wait two days first though.

With some small talk to the teaching staff, he enjoyed the dinner, he sighed in disappointment slightly as it didn't taste as good as Persephone's food.

•~~~~•

Raven hummed, he noted he had been doing that a lot, as he wrapped his arm around Rose who had somehow found him when he had chosen a random tower to sit on and enjoy watching the stars.

"Oh." He said as he noticed she had fallen asleep, idly he noted she had big bags under her eyes, her apprentice hadn't been sleeping well apparently.

"Silly girl, unlike me, you do need sleep." He sighed softly as he angled himself to pick her up bridal style and opened a portal to his office and tucked her into his bed, with a nod to himself he opened another portal somewhere random inside of Hogwarts.

Once he was gone, Rose's face turned bright red as her eyes opened.

She had faked falling asleep.

"Take that Cynthia, I was right!" She said proudly as she pumped her fist, or tried to, but realized that the blanket covering her weighed a lot more then a normal one should. "Uh oh."

•~~~~•

Raven smirked as he closed the portal, he had been well aware she was awake, using his extremely waited blanket so he can actually feel it, was a great prank idea.

Raven blinked as he tripped and somehow fell through a wall that was a wall, but also wasn't a wall…

He found himself inside a dusty little room.

It wasn't anything crazy, it was like a small study. A few bookshelves with very dusty books. A desk that looked like it had seen better days. A rusted and falling apart set of lanterns laid scattered about.

The most notable thing was the white-pink flowers that were in perfect condition, his mind oddly noted that the flowers formed a rune in shape…

Oh, how interesting. With a brief flare of his energy, he fed some of it there and watched pleased as a rune started glowing in between the flowers scattered across the room.

Slowly an image formed in the middle of the room, a person leaning against the desk as the room was suddenly pristine again.

Raven wanted to punch him.

Long white hair, his was much more glorious compared to this punch able looking person, purple eyes, pale skin. Raven wasn't going to even think about their shitty choice in outfits. The shoes, pants and shirt were good, all black, mostly, the pants had some gold on them, but a solid choice, the white and a bunch of other colored mixed in, not so much.

"Greetings Raven Inanis." The man spoke as a smile came to their face. Raven felt it was both fake and real, a vexing thing.

"I am Merlin Ambrosius. The Magus of Flowers. Court Wizard of Camelot. Teacher of King Arthur. It's a pleasure to talk to you, I am a recorded vision, using my clairvoyance, I choose this moment for us to talk." Merlin said as their smile got wider.

"Can I punch you?"

"No."

"Damnit."

"Now, haven't you ever wondered why you were so different? What led to you being so different, inhuman?" Merlin asked as a gleam entered his eyes.

"Why your strength is so beyond humans. The raw and intense power of your magic. The desire to follow contracts and then find every loophole in something for mere amusement. The desire. The hunger. The thirst. The glee you get over things people would consider mortally wrong. The inhuman thoughts." Merlin said each one slowly as if listing things off.

"I want to punch you even more."

"Not happening! My face is to beautiful."

"Damnit."

"The truth is, you are so much more. A child born of a lonely mother seeking comfort in her hidden loneliness. A light in her darkness. A guide to happiness. So you came into existence."

"I want to stab you."

"A race with unknown origins. The original three just appearing randomly into the world, no answers given to their birth. Unique abilities limited to their race. Finders of loopholes. Good Neighbors. Kind Ones. Will of Life. Those Who are Good and Fair."

Merlin was really dragging it out, but it did give him time to think, and he knew the answer now, but having it revealed would be handy.

"Raven Inanis, Prince of Denial, Human/Fae hybrid." Merlin said smiling and Raven laughed joyfully. Merlin blinked, a look of slight worry on his face.

"It actually makes a lot of sense." Raven mused with a smile as he thought on everything. Honestly, his cursed ability should really have given it away. There were very few beings besides the divine who could naturally curse people and things.

"Glad to hear you're taking it well. Now listen closely though, with knowledge of your heritage, things will start to change." Merlin said seriously.

"I don't feel like stabbing you with Malevolent and letting it implode for now."

"Ignoring that. With knowledge of your blood, things will become more prominent. You can make deals with people like Fae do. Contracts formed will be night unbreakable. Your ability to curse will have magnified greatly. You might also see a slight increase in all your abilities. Above all else, you will start thinking slightly more like a fae." Merlin warned and Raven took it seriously as he noted that down.

"Inside this room are copies of knowledge from fae on a few abilities they have. Learn well Prince of Denail. For The Blood of The Fae, is now yours to do with." Merlin said with a wink and vanished.

"I want to stab him multiple times over."

•~~~~•

Somewhere in the world, a small white squirrel looking creature fist pumped happily while saying "Die Merlin!"

•~~~~•

Raven appeared inside the clocktower where he sensed Artoria in the morning. She was eating breakfast with Rin and Shirou.

"You have my utmost respect for putting up with him." Raven said and then vanished soon after.

Rin and Shirou were confused. Artoria not so much, she understood that Merlin was to blame for that. She recognized his brand of causing instant hatred in others.

She was just confused on how he did it to Raven while said magus of flowers was sealed away in the reverse world.

However she was glad to know he understood the desire to stab Merlin.

•~~~~•

Raven smiled as he finished carving into Malevolent. He had kept its same forms, but he changed the shape in which the runeic sequences were set, a bit of work that was getting it just right, but he succeeded, so now written in each form was a simple phrase.

Prince of Denial, Blood of The Fae

•~~~~•~~~~•~~~~•

This was an interesting chapter to write, I hope I conveyed the desire to inflict bodily harm onto Merlin properly. Also a small little cameo of Fou. Merlin's number one hater.

Anyways I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, I had fun writing it, especially at the beginning. It will be interesting how some thing will change in the future, especially with how I've decided to start detailing HP canon soon, the bigger changes will start happening in Year 4 of HP canon, the goblet of fire.

That always seems like a good place to start detailing all plans and just saying fuck you canon, my road or my road. Plus introducing another champion, or even just Raven as a champion possibly, is a curious idea, however I'm also tempted to not have him as a participant, and just a worried master for his apprentice.

Anyways, ima go to sleep now, I've been awake longer then should be allowed.

Tata!

Bye~
