Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty Six

It had turned into a full down pour now but all movements seized as the remaining two stared at the demoness with a promising look in her eyes. They hadn't seen her take down the two behind her but they had seen her take down the one in front of her and must they say it was brutal. Their gaze moved behind her to see the same slash marks on the duo's necks that had held her hands hostage behind her. Their eyes took in while their minds tried to process as they shared a look and shifted back to their main focus but to their horror, the demoness who stood before them didn't have the beautiful green eyes anymore but... Red.

"What are you?". One stumbled backwards in shock and fear while the other stood frozen to the spot not blinking, more or less breathing.

"Wrong question". She pointed the bloody dagger she had retrieved from the dead corpse at them. "It's who are you". And so she moved the same time lightening struck, making her look like a real demon or grim reaper that had come for souls.

Unaware of the Perchers that watched everything from the highest heights of trees, Autumn placed both palms flat against each other as she prayed for the souls of the men she killed. She had agilely stacked the corpses on top each other while she stood watching the beautiful art she had created with corpse. Stretching her hand on both sides of her body with her head tipped to the back, she let the rain slap down on her to wash the blood and sins. Wind blew but she stood still enjoying the comfort of being out in the open and under the rain. A sardonic laugh broke out of her throat as she twirled in her position before making her way back but only to stop with her hands holding onto the sides of her head. Her ears rung loudly although she could still hear the intensity even with the deep slap down of rain on earth. She swayed to the side, her elbow coming in contact with a tree bark for support; slowly she stood up and shook her head sideways before opening her eyes to the ever lovely green. Her feet took her back to the piled bodies and when she saw the cut marks, she smiled in satisfaction and walked back to the fallen tree trunk, leaping gracefully over it to the other side.

She graced the woman who held onto her children tightly a small smile before she moved quickly to Bridget who lay motionless. Her knees smacked down on the wet soil as she checked for a pulse with her heart beating wildly in fear. When she found one, she was quick to hoist Bridget onto her back with urgency. She was about to move when the brown eyed woman stopped her, her kids hiding behind her skirt as thunder rumbled loudly and lightening flashed.

"I-T-Wh.."

"Make it quick". Autumn spoke in a threatening tone making the woman jump a little. Seeing that, she closed her eyes and tried to calm the brewing anger and blood lust.

"I'm sorry". She apologized to the woman.

"I have no where to go". She spoke quickly with her fingers twisting the wet skirt of her gown seated at her thigh while Autumn's brows were raised in question.

"So?". Her tone was flat and uninterested.

"Can you...No! Can we stay with you for the night pending when I can find a place for us?".

Autumn took predatory steps towards her but the woman stood her ground.

"Why with me?". Autumn asked, her gaze straying to the scared kids hiding behind their mother and peeking at the same time to look at her.

"Aren't you scared? You saw what I'm capable of, didn't you?". Autumn knowing fully well that she had been watched the entire time by this woman asked, indirectly daring her to deny the obvious fact.

"You wouldn't hurt us". She affirmed positively.

"And how are you so sure?". Autumn cocked a brow in question. "You know something about me that others do not". There was a meaning behind that statement- she wasn't suppose to live after witnessing what Autumn had done.

"Please!!! I'll do anything you want".

"Anything?"

"Anything".

"Fine". The mother's eyes glittered.

"Oh!! Thank you! Thank you..." She almost kowtowed but stopped, the thin smile she wore dropped when she heard what Autumn said.

"I want you to leave". Slowly she straightened her position with a sad expression she directed towards Autumn.

"Let's go kids". She bent to their level to speak and stood straight again, taking both their hands in hers.

"Thank you for saving us". The brown eyed woman thanked Autumn and turned to leave.

"Wait!". Autumn spoke with her eyes closed. "Swear to me, swear to me that you'll tell no soul what you saw".

"I swear on my ancestors". She swore but her gaze was unfocused as she stared at somewhere else. Autumn knowing what she was looking at could only ask her again to be sure. Since rain poured down the temporary washable dye had washed off giving way to her colored hair of dark yellowish green; that's why it was called an olive color since they didn't know what to call it with the tips and some strands having dull shades of yellow and green.
