Chapter 29 - Chapter Twenty Nine

Her bruised feet slipped from under her, taking the brunt of the fall as she fell into an uncontrolled roll from a sloppy ground that slid down to a rocky formation, stabbing as she hit down hard on rocky levelling, spitting out blood that sucked the air out of her. Dead twigs from tree branches, sharp edges of stones and other earthly things caused damage as momentum carried her to an abrupt stop with her back slamming hard against something hard, flat, rough and uneven. The air was knocked out of her as she wheezed and coughed, all of a sudden feeling suffocated and on the verge of choking. Feeling disoriented, pain radiated from every part of her body internally and externally as it sent message to her brain that short circuited on the verge of shut down in order to contain the pain. Head ache split her head with warm liquid trailing down and heartbeat taking hostage in some part of her body; she could feel it pulsing. The feeling of soil in her mouth foreign with no means to get it out as her system shut itself slowly. She couldn't move, couldn't feel any part of her body; not even her fingers nor the simplest, her tongue. Saliva and blood trailed down the side of her parted lips while breathing felt like a lot of work to do, just the simple act of inhaling with muscle following the movement was a problem; her vision swirled in and out of focus.

She escaped and lost her abductors only to end up here and like this?. Genesis felt like she was gonna die or probably she was dying, slowly she could feel it. Maybe it wouldn't have been like this if she had just followed them to wherever they planned to take her but would she still have survived? Would it have been worse than this?

She couldn't cry, couldn't make a sound as breathing was an issue; slow and painful, system not functioning well. The rain washed and dirtied her at the same time, adding to the pain she already felt, stinging the external cuts she had that sent the boulder-sized pain through her nerves and to her brain. Only if she could say she looked a mess; her shoes long gone leaving raw marks and dirt that would infect the gashes she had under her feet that felt like the skin under was torn and raw; gown ripped and maybe leaving some clues and trails that would be traced maybe much later to her dead and already cold body. Her tears mixed with the rain as she battled to live. She didn't deserve this, any of this.

Even with the rumble of thunder and dancing of the intricate lines of lightening over the dark sky, she couldn't see anything especially with her glued and screwed eyes that shut on their own command, couldn't feel.

She was in the dark, it was bad... Very bad; even while asleep, she was one to never blow off the candles, knowing what would become of her if she was in the dark and right on time, it started with just the intermittent and crazed shrill scream of a woman; then it doubled, taking different voices and tones like a thousand screaming agonizingly at the same time. It drove her insane to the point where she could not differentiate between reality or the fact that her mind was playing dirty and insane tricks on her. She didn't like the dark; the rumble of thunder and the beat down of rain on earth did nothing but add to the sting of every fresh wound and the insanity in her mind making her body shiver uncontrollably and her teeth clatter painfully and bloodily maybe due to the fact that she had been in the rain for far too long. Her breathing constricted like metal machineries rolling slowly and trying not to get stuck against each other. With everything, she could still smell her own blood being washed into the earth and herself slipping away slowly but agonizingly painfully.

Was this how she was gonna die? Was no one going to save her?

SAVE ME. Her life line cried out to someone, anyone?

With his hands crossed behind his back, Landmark stared out of the shattered floor to ceiling glass window into the blurred obstructed darkness born out of heavy rain. It was a moonless night but still he peered into the darkness as if looking for something; the cracked sides of the window revealing split images of him. The cautious and frantic knock of his Butler on the door made him sigh. He didn't need to be told, he could differentiate each and every one of his workers through their smell or scent.

The frantic knock continued with the other party staying mute, waiting until his master gave him a reply and not haggard breathing.

"What do you want Smolder?". He ratted out, waiting for a reply which he wasn't given until he walked across the room to yank the door open. The red eyes of his butler followed his hand holding onto the edge of the door to his panting face then he lifted a brow.

"What do you want". He repeated, panting out through gritted teeth and looking like he could pass out anytime soon.

"The Lords are here master".

"WHAT?!".

"The Lords are here". The Butler repeated like his master hadn't heard him.

"Wh-ere A-are they?". He panted, looking like he was about to pass out which made the Butler frown as he watched his master use the door for support.

"They're in the dining room Sire". He nodded. Not able to get his head straight, he couldn't teleport to the dining room so he had to walk- more like stumble out of the short corridor into the hallway that led into the dining room.

The guards standing on each end of the door had questioning looks on their faces but nonetheless, they pushed the double door into the grand dining room that could fit hundreds. The stone walls gave a spectacular and special glow to the big oval gold-rimmed glass dining table frame with seven chair sets that sat spread out in the middle upon rainbow sand stoned flooring running to every edge of the dining room. Arch top windows overlooked the bridged garden who's beauty could not be seen now because of the rain that darkened the atmosphere and welcomed the darkness of the night. The luxurious silver glitter color candle crystal chandelier encompassed with silver and ruby topped candelabras hung down low from the rococo style ceiling in the middle of the dining table that had golden candelabras intricately arranged on it where variety of dishes spread out. Shiny ceramic statues with expensive porcelain pots and vases took the remaining spaces in the dining room. All heads turned to the direction of the door when it clicked open to see a disheveled looking Landmark who was damp with sweat, stumbling towards them seated at the dining table. His hand mistakenly knocked down a glass cup when he lost his footing and held onto the edge of the table for support. His Butler had tried to intervene but he had slapped his hand, throwing himself against the cold table and groaning in pain. There were five Lords including George currently occupying the seats, leaving two vacant seats which Landmark was successful enough to juggle himself on top one. When he seated himself, he placed his head on the cold glass table, pushing the candelabra in that position further away from him. They all gave him concerned looks but all the while, George stared at him intently like he was trying to read him, like he knew something that Landmark and maybe the others didn't.
