"Shoutian, apologize." Zhou Li walked in.
"Sister Li, why should I apologize? I didn't do anything wrong," Liu Banxia said, distressed.
Upon hearing Liu Banxia's response, Liang Xiaolin felt even more aggrieved and resentful. Her shoulders started to tremble.
"Oh my, I just noticed there's a wound on your waist. It doesn't seem very serious, about three centimeters long, I guess?" Liu Banxia gritted his teeth. He felt he had to take a gamble; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to explain himself.
At his words, both Wang Ying and Zhou Li were taken aback. Liang Xiaolin, however, wasn't startled and continued to glare at him stubbornly.
"Ah... it looks like she's really hurt. It's probably not noticeable because of her dark clothes. Doctor Liang, can I take a look?" Zhou Li glanced at her and said, a little surprised.
Liang Xiaolin hesitated. She didn't feel any pain, but she nodded nonetheless.
Zhou Li lifted Liang Xiaolin's top to find a scratch on the back of her left waist. It was a bit more than two centimeters long and somewhat deep. There must have been considerable bleeding at the time, as her pants were soaked with a large patch of blood, which had been hidden by her top.
Liu Banxia let out a sigh of relief. This must be the combined effect of my enhanced agility and spirit.
I just happened to touch it, and my brain immediately judged it to be a wound of about three centimeters. To be sure, I touched it a couple more times. It really wasn't because she felt soft and smooth that I wanted to take advantage of her. Ahem... what happened next was purely accidental.
"Doctor Liang, you really have a wound; it needs to be treated," Zhou Li said, frowning.
Only after Zhou Li's comment did Liang Xiaolin start feeling some pain at the wound.
"Let's go to Procedure Room 2. That's my old haunt," Liu Banxia joked, trying to lighten the awkward mood.
"I don't want you to suture me; I'll find someone else," Liang Xiaolin said stubbornly.
"Silly girl, Shoutian is very good at suturing. Let him handle it quickly," Wang Ying said with a smile.
Despite having just witnessed his suturing skills, Liang Xiaolin was resolute about not letting Liu Banxia touch her again.
But now that Wang Ying had said so, her upbringing prevented her from refusing. However, even though she agreed, her attitude towards Liu Banxia was not very friendly.
"Shoutian, how did you make such an accurate judgment?" Zhou Li asked curiously.
"Who do you think I am? I'm the Little Prince of Debridement!" Liu Banxia shrugged.
Zhou Li rolled her eyes at him. This guy, such a waste of good looks, but his EQ is nonexistent. If his emotional intelligence were even slightly online, he wouldn't have been single for so long.
"Lie down. Do you know how you got injured?" Liu Banxia asked out of habit once they were in Procedure Room 2.
Although the stubborn Liang Xiaolin lay down obediently, she refused to answer Liu Banxia's question.
Zhou Li said with a helpless sigh, "Doctor Liang, could it be that you were injured along with the emergency patient from just now?"
"Um... she swerved to avoid a child while driving and ended up heading straight for me. I dodged to the side and felt a bump at the time, but I didn't pay much attention to it," Liang Xiaolin said softly.
Liu Banxia lifted her clothes to get a better look at the wound. He had to admire this girl; one end of the wound surface was quite large, yet she had managed to endure it until now.
Taking out saline solution and iodophor, Liu Banxia cleaned the wound very carefully.
Lying on her stomach, Liang Xiaolin felt very frustrated. A stinging pain now came from the wound, but it wasn't as bad as she had imagined. She knew this was because Liu Banxia's technique was good; he hadn't pressed on her wound while cleaning and wiping it.
And yet? She couldn't help but recall the awkward situation from earlier. Even though she knew it was a misunderstanding, it was still a fact that this Liu Shoutian had taken advantage of her.
"Doctor Liang, which department are you in?" Zhou Li asked, smiling.
"Cardiothoracic Surgery. I'm also from Binhai Medical College," Liang Xiaolin said.
"Then shouldn't you be interning at our Second Hospital? How come I've never seen you?" Zhou Li asked curiously.
"I interned at the First Hospital last year. Next, I'll be doing my residency training at the Second Hospital. HISS..." Liang Xiaolin sucked in a sharp breath.
"That's the anesthetic. If you don't want a scar here, I'll need to put in a few more stitches. Don't worry, I'll make sure it's done well," Liu Banxia said.
"Just a young girl, yet you were so imposing when you arrived with the ambulance. You even startled me. I thought some celestial being had descended to switch professions."
"HMPH."
Finally, Liang Xiaolin responded to him, though her response was just a snort. She was still angry.
Zhou Li was genuinely amused. Liu Banxia was usually very popular at the Second Hospital; he could even chat easily with the patients who came for treatment. But today, this Liang Xiaolin was really giving him a run for his money. It was quite amusing.
"You need to be more modest in the future. Even though your academic qualifications are higher than mine, when it comes to experience, you really don't have as much as I do," Liu Banxia said as he began to suture.
"Our hospital's Cardiothoracic Surgery department is a top-tier department. Even among Binhai Medical College students, not many can successfully compete for a residency training spot here at our Second Hospital."
"I also watched your actions during the emergency just now. You do have some foundation. Many newcomers, upon seeing a scene like that, would basically be scared stiff, completely forgetting all the procedures and techniques they'd learned, unsure of where those memories even went."
"Are you annoying or what? Can you just suture properly?" Liang Xiaolin grumbled in frustration.
"I can't. I've already finished. What else do you want me to suture? Lie still, I'm applying the dressing. Alright, you can get up now. Go ahead and write your own doctor's orders," Liu Banxia said.
DING! Patient consultation completed. Received 10 experience points, Dressing Change Technique +3, Suturing Technique +10, Diagnostics Skill +20.
He was deeply impressed; the boost to his overall capabilities from the agility and spirit enhancement was truly no joke. Whether it was closing the incision for the pregnant woman earlier or suturing Liang Xiaolin just now, he could feel that he was suturing better and faster.
"Ah? You're done suturing?" Liang Xiaolin asked incredulously.
"Doctor Liang, I didn't recommend the wrong person, did I? Shoutian isn't just handsome; his suturing is truly the best in our Emergency Department," Zhou Li said with a smile.
"Hmph, he's not a good person," Liang Xiaolin pouted.
This amused Zhou Li even more.
Liang Xiaolin walked to the door, then turned back. "I'll remember you, Liu Shoutian. Don't look down on people. Just you wait, I'll definitely be better than you."
After leaving these fierce words, Liang Xiaolin finally left.
Liu Banxia was stunned. "Sister Li, what does this girl eat to be so spirited? Who on earth did I offend?"
"Hehe, who did you offend? What do you think? How did it feel holding that little beauty?" Zhou Li asked with a mischievous smile, her hands behind her back.
Liu Banxia rolled his eyes and walked out. "I need to rest a bit; I have a surgery to lead this afternoon."
"Doctor Liu, we just received a notification that you have to attend a meeting in the small conference room on the 8th floor of the main building."
Just as he reached the door, Xu Dan ran over anxiously.
Liu Banxia's heart skipped a beat. He knew Old Qin was about to make his move.
