"Mom, that card is a wedding gift from Chief Smith to us, it's stored in the safe, I won't carry it around. Is there any difference whether it's with me or with you?"
She noticed Leanne Richards' expression change, the once kind face now carried a hint of gloominess.
"I am your mother-in-law, kindly helping you keep your things, how come you're unwilling instead?"
Helen Melendy sneered inwardly. It's the first time she's seen a matriarch of a wealthy family act so petty. To put it bluntly, it's downright disgraceful.
Even in ordinary families, parents wouldn't covet their son and daughter-in-law's wedding gifts. But here she is, starting right off with something worth billions, acting as if it's only natural.
