Chapter Five
She merely said a few words against him, and in return, received a harsh slap from her father.
Suddenly, she was at a loss, unsure what she was living for.
A breath of air?
A person?
She just wanted to find a man who truly cared for her, to be with the one she loved...
Yet, even such a small wish seemed so extravagant.
Feeling miserable, she grabbed the wine glass, just about to gulp it down, when it was suddenly snatched away.
Kris Shaw, a bit upset, grabbed her glass, "Stop drinking!"
His appearance immediately drew the attention of others.
Luckily, the lighting here wasn't too bright, and the people who came to play weren't overly enthusiastic about chasing stars, otherwise, he would likely have been surrounded by crowds layers deep by now.
Kris Shaw grabbed her wrist abruptly, pulling her out without giving her a chance to refuse.
