Chapter Eight
"Once you take back the property, won't that land be our family's again?"
"So until now, Mom only cares about that land, right?"
Regina asked coldly, tears slipping down her face.
Ever since she found out she wasn't a Brown Family child, her mom had been so indifferent to her, almost like she never wanted to see her again. But once Ryan Gregory died, and it concerned the property, her mom showed up.
For the first time, Regina felt that she was truly pathetic.
Regina's mother frowned, her expression somewhat uneasy, and quickly said, "I know, I've been a bit distant from you lately, but don't I need time to accept this reality too? Although you're not my daughter, I've always treated you like my own daughter all these years; that feeling is real, right?"
"Mom came to see you now for your own sake too."
Regina turned her head, tears falling uncontrollably, "I'm like a living dead now. With Ryan gone, my life is dark; what's the point of living?"
