7: The School for the Greatest Heroes - 3: Aizawa's Test
The morning of their first day of school, Kyōka stood just outside the entrance tapping the toe of her shoe against the pavement as she waited for Izuku to show up. "What's taking him so long?" She wondered aloud to herself as other students passed her by, some of them giving her looks. [Perverts.] She thought as one incredibly short boy with round balls for hair passed her by with a leer in his eyes.
"Kyōka!" She heard a familiar voice calling out to her and turned to see her friend coming toward her at a jog. She felt a smile coming to her face at last as the boy stopped next to her, "Sorry I took so long!" He apologized as soon as he reached her.
Kyōka just shook her head when she saw the state of his necktie, "I can see why, Greenie," she said before she reached out to fix it, "Your tie looks completely ridiculous."
Izuku fought down a blush at her close proximity, "I-uh-yeah, I'm no good with this sorta thing." He said with a shaky tone in his voice as his heart sped up a notch.
Kyōka's jacks didn't need to touch his skin to know that his heart rate had picked up, which made her blush as well when she realized that she was the reason for the sudden increase in speed. She turned her eyes down as she finished with his necktie, and patted his chest, "There, nice and presentable." She stepped back and twirled around quickly so he wouldn't notice the redness in her cheeks. "Now come on, Spidey, we don't wanna be late on our first day."
"R-right," Izuku hurried to catch up to her, "So what class are you in?"
She turned her head slightly, "I'm in Class 1-A," she said and saw him beam, "You, too?"
Izuku nodded, "Yeah!" The boy smiled excitedly, "This is great!"
Kyōka hid a small smile. She had to admit that seeeing Izuku so happy about them sharing a class made her stomach flutter just a little. But it also mader her want to tease him all the more. "Great, huh?" She smirked at him, "What, can't bear the thought of being in a class without me?"
Izuku's blush turned neon, "Uh! No! It's not that I don't - I mean I - What?!"
She spun on her heel with a snarky grin on her face, "You're too fun to tease, you know that?" She turned back around as the two of them entered the school and began searching for their classroom while Izuku just muttered incoherently. "So, how're things with Old Man Prowler?" She asked, referring to his father.
Izuku blew out a breath, "Aside from the sparring sessions?" He asked, "He's trying to act like my dad, but...it's not as easy as he's trying to make it seem."
Her right jack reached over and lightly tapped him on the cheek, "At least give the guy some credit for trying," she told him, "I know it'll take a while, but you know it wasn't his fault, don't you?"
The boy sighed, "You see? That's the problem: I don't knowwhat happened." She looked at him in confusion, "He won't explain anything to me. And every time I ask, he says I woudln't understand." He shook his head, "Anyway, how're your parents doing?"
"Same ol' same ol'," she huffed, "Dad's putting on his tough guy act whenever the cops, or the teachers come around and Mom's keeping him in line." She stretched her arms over her head, "Moving into the dorms was the best thing to ever happen to me! I've never had a room be so quiet unless I was in the studio's soundproof room." She said, "You should swing by after classes let out and see the place for yourself."
Izuku nodded, "I'll bring Eri by. She'll love seeing you again." He said with a huge grin on his face.
Kyōka giggled as they continued down the hall, "Hey, that reminds me," she pointed to the sonic choker around her neck, "Do you mind if I let the Support Course have a look at this?" She asked with a small blush on her face, "Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's kind of bulky to wear."
Izuku chuckled bashfully, "Yeah, I know what you mean," he said, "My Web Shooters were really bulky before Power Loader and Hatsume got at them," he shivered as he remembered how excited Mei had gotten over some of his designs. "I should probably warn you though: Hatsume can be a little..."
"Eccentric?" Kyoka put in.
"That works." He laughed before they stopped in front of a huge door marked, "1-A". "Jeez, that's huge!"
"Must be for students with Quirks that make them grow," Kyōka reasoned as she reached out to open it, "Let's just hope we don't have any jackasses in our class, right?" She pulled the door open.
"Please remove your feet from the top of that desk!" Shouted a voice that Izuku recognized. "It's not only disrespectful to the students that came before us, but also the school and its property!"
Izuku's heart sank, "Oh, no." He muttered.
"Shut up," shouted a louder, more vicious voice, "You really think I care about some bullshit like that?!" Kyōka then groaned loudly as she palmed her face, "What middle school did you even attend to get that stick up your ass?!"
The two loud teens were not only the strict acting teen that had once berated Izuku for his muttering habit during the Practical Exam, but also the loud and aggressive Katsuki Bakugō: Izuku's own worst nightmare.
Kyōka felt a headache coming on, "No, not him," she moaned.
Izuku gave her a small glare, "You're the one that jinxed us." He reminded her.
He received a slap to the back of his head via one of her jacks.
"I'm from Soumei Private Academy, I'll have you know!" The strict teen said as Kyōka motioned for them to discreetly move around and avoid the pair of them. "And my name is Ten'ya Īda, not extra!"
Bakugō looked at the teen haughtily, "Soumei, huh?! You're one of those high and mighty extras with a silver spoon stuck in their mouth," he sneered, "I should just blast you to bits right here!" His hands started giving off small firecracker explosions making the boy flinch back.
"Blast me to bits!?" He asked incredulously, "How dareyou!? Do you truly wish to become a Hero?!" He demanded of the uncaring Bakugō, then, to Izuku's sheer regret, he turned and saw him and Kyōka sneaking toward some empty seats. "You!"
"Me!?" Izuku yelped timidly as the large teen strode over to him and Kyōka, the girl's jacks hovering near her collar.
Ten'ya stopped a few feet in front of him, "I remember you from the exam," he said, drawing Katsuki's attention. The ashen-blond gained a look of shock across his features before an angry scowl appeared. "I saw the way you tried to fight the robots, but I noticed that you couldn't manage to harm them. You even went so far as to bloody your own fists to do so, yet I never saw you destroy one."
With each mention of his failure Izuku felt another spike stabbing into him. [Why does everyone keep bringing that up?!] Kyōka looked ready to strangle him with her jacks with everyone word that came out of his mouth.
"So you must have figured out a better way to gain entrance into this academy." Ten'ya went on, causing the green-haired teen to look up from his shame. "I am thoroughly impressed! It seems I misjudged you at the introduction ceremony, so I would greatly like to apologize!" He offered a bow, "Please forgive my harsh words from earlier!"
Kyōka was a little stunned at the display, [Whoa, maybe he's not as stuck-up as I thought?] She thought as her friend started getting flustered in his usual way, making her smile.
"Get real," Bakugō sneered, "He doesn't even have a Quirk." He rose and stomped over to the teen, leaning down toward his ear, "Look, ya nerd, I'm already on thin ice thanks to you." Izuku paled, "I was gonna apologize for it all, but seeing you here?" He growled, "You just stay the hell outta my way, or else...got it?"
Izuku gave a small nod as Katsuki backed off...
...right before he was whacked right in the head with the strongest jab that Kyōka could manage. "OW!"
Kyōka's jack coiled back to her, the tips of both of them aimed toward the ashen blond like a pair of vipers, "What in the hell's wrong with you, you idiot!" The violet-haired girl snapped angrily as she stepped around her friend and Iida to confront him in front of the whole class, "I knew from the start that you had a bad attitude, but I didn't think you were absolute garbage!"
The blond was furious, "The hell'd you say to me, ear-bitch!" Bakugō snarled angrily, his hands crackling angrily.
"Oh, is your hearing garbage, too?" She asked almost innocently, "Then let me spell it out for you!" She pointed directly at Izuku, "This guy is ten times the Hero you wish you were, while you're nothing but self-centered egotistical gloryhound that wouldn't care if a life needed saving!" She snapped and got right in the explosive blond's face, "He saved the life of a little girl and all you do is keep dragging him through the mud, even after he took a bullet for the kid. That's more than you'd ever do, I bet!"
He scoffed, "Damned right! 'Cause I'm not some Quirkless chump that's scared of bullets!" Bakugō snapped angrily.
"Well, obviously he wasn't either!" She snapped right back, fearless in the face of what could easily be a dangerous situation, "And he's not Quirkless anymore you idiot!"
"WHAT!?" His attention was right back on Izuku, "What the fuck is she talking about, Deku!?"
Before the flustered teen could answer, another student arrived and recognized the verdette, "Hey, it's you!" Both Izuku and Kyōka turned and saw a girl with a brown bob-cut, and a perpetual blush on her cheeks, "You're the one that saved me!"
Izuku yelped as his face flamed, "Uh-I-uh-um!?"
Kyōka snorted, "Oh, man, you're hopeless!" She laughed at his flustered face, though she did feel a small spike of jealousy in her chest.
"I was so hoping that you'd get in," the new arrival said as she placed her hands together, careful not to touch her pinky fingers together, "You were trying so hard, and then you swooped in and saved me from being crushed by that giant robot!"
Kyōka gained a look of surprise, "Whoa, Green Bean, you seriously went up against that thing?" She asked, remembering when the same robot had appeared in her area of the Practical Exam. She smirked and poked him with her jacks teasingly, "You got more balls than I thought, Spider-Man."
"Spider-Man?" Said a boy with sharp teeth and spiky red hair.
"Aw, man, guy's already got a cool Hero name," said another boy with bright blond hair with black patches in it that looked like lightning bolts.
One boy that looked like his left side was covered in ice looked at him for a brief moment before ignoring him while a girl with a ponytail looked at him curiously. A set of floating clothes giggled after a pink-skinned girl with horns whispered something to her.
Then...
"If you've come here to make friends," said a tired sounding voice, "Then I suggest that you get the hell out right now." Izuku turned and freaked out when he saw what looked like a giant yellow caterpillar lying on the ground. "This is the Hero Course, not daycamp," a hand popped out holding a juice pouch.
[What the heck!?] Izuku internally screamed.
[There's someone in there!?] The rest of the students thought collectively.
The caterpillar drained the pouch, and unzipped what was actually a sleeping bag, and rose up, "It took approximately eight seconds for all of you to quiet down," the man said as he revealed himself to be a tall, scruffy-looking man with shoulder-length black hair, dark circles under his red-rimmed eyes. Around his neck was a pair of yellow goggles, "In the world of Professional Heroes, time is more precious than the air you breathe," he told the class, "Meaning that none of you are very rational."
Kyōka gave Izuku a questioning look, "Okay, who is this guy?"
Izuku shook his head, "I don't know," he said, "All of the staff here are supposed to be Pro Heroes, but even I don't recognize this guy." He hissed right back.
The man looked directly at Izuku, making the Spider-Quirk user flinch, "Who am I?" He repeated their question, "I'm your homeroom teacher, Shōta Aizawa."
"HOMEROOM TEACHER?!" Most of the class shouted at once in shock and confusion that this scruffy-looking man could be a teacher.
"That's right," Aizawa said, never taking his eyes from the boy, "Now, all of you get into your gym clothes." He said, "And head out onto the grounds. Be quick about it, too."

The Midoriya household was a popular residence that morning after Izuku had left.
The first to come calling were Kyoka's parents. Being under witness protection meant that they wouldn't be able to leave the campus grounds without an escort, so socializing was a bit of a problem. Luckily for both families, they had each other.
The two mothers were sharing a pot of tea while speaking of their children, while the two fathers were sharing a pack of sodas, Hisashi trying to figure out how to connect with his son.
"It's so nice to have someone like you to talk to, Inko," Mika gushed happily, "You wouldn't believe how few people I get to meet that actually have children the same age as Kyoka. It's so amazingly frustrating!"
Inko laughed, "Oh, I know exactly what you mean, Mika," she said in agreement, "What with Izuku being formerly Quirkless, not many of his classmates wanted to be friends with him, and those that interacted with him were absolutely horrid on the best of days." She said as she recalled how badly beaten her son would be when he came home at times.
"That is so terrible," Kyoka's mother sighed, "And to think that Izuku's such a darling young man! Quirk or no, he'd make someone a wonderful husband someday!"
Kyotoku frowned at his wife while he and Hisashi sat back watching a baseball game, "And there she goes, already playing matchmaker." He said, sighing, "Dammit, I'm not ready for my baby to have a boyfriend, yet!"
Hisashi snorted, "At least your kid acknowledges you." He said, "Izuku's still getting used to me being around him."
Kyotoku shrugged, "Gotta look at it from his perspective," he said, "Kid's spent the biggest part of his life without you in it. You and your wife might have kept in touch, but beyond that?" He shook his head and took a swig of his soda, "Have you tried explaining what happened to make you stay away for so long?"
Hisashi blanched, "It...it's complicated."
"That's life," the rocker said, "Still, ya gotta show the kid ya care." Kyotoku sighed, "If he knows why ya had to go to ground, then he might begin to open up a little more. Hear what I'm sayin'?"
Hisashi frowned. "He's right, you know?" Mika put in, halting her conversation with Inko. "From what I've seen, Izuku's a good boy, but to see him treating you in such a way means that he's hurting quite badly, and the only way to stop that is to start giving the boy what he needs."
"I agree, Dear," Inko sighed, "I know that it's a sensitive subject, but Izuku is quite an understanding young man."
Hisashi sighed, but was saved from answering when there came a knock on the front door, "I got it." He rose and went to the door.
"Aw, chicken!" Kyotoku said loudly before he was silenced by his wife's jacks. "Ow! What was that for?!"
She glared at him, "Don't you give me that tone, darling," Mika huffed. "You know exactly what that was for!"
Hisashi chuckled as he reached for the door and opened it. "Mister Yagi!" The man smiled as the blond man appeared. "Good to see you." He reached out to shake his hand before he invited him in. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"Glad to see you're all doing well," the man said in greeting as he was led into the living room, "I actually came by to talk about one of your son's designs."
Inko looked at him curiously as she poured a cup of tea for him from the pot she and Mika had been sharing, "Oh? Is it something dangerous?"
Toshinori shook his head and thanked her for the tea, "Oh no, not at all." He said before taking a grateful sip, "It's quite the opposite actually." He reached inside his jacket and pulled out a copy of a page from one of their son's notebooks.
"Now, I'm certain that you all know that the police forces throughout the world use a type of Quirk suppressing set of handcuffs." He handed over the piece of paper to the boy's parents, "But Izuku's come up with a far superior design that he calls the Power Cuff," both Inko and Hisashi were looking over the design, though while Inko was at a loss, Hisashi looked impressed, "It's a simple band that is slapped across the wrist, locking itself into place with a powerful magnetic force, and renders the wearer's Quirk useless."
The boy's father gave an appreciative whistle, "This is amazing," he said quietly, "If I had something like this in New York, then - "
Toshinori chuckled, "Trust me, my friend, that device is going to be quite something when it hits the open market," he said, "Which is why I thought I should come to you, as his parents, to have a contract drawn up so that he can patent it. I know that the police will benefit from it greatly. It's compact and made from lightweight material, so it wouldn't be too difficult for a person to carry several of them in their pocket."
Hisashi frowned and handed the design back to his wife, "I'll...let my wife decide." Toshinori gave him a confused look, "As much as I appreciate your inclusion of me in this, I'm afraid I've been out of Izuku's life for far too long to go about making a decision on his behalf like this without his say so."
The blond man nodded, "Understandable, and I'll be letting Young Midoriya read the contract himself, of course, before he signs it." He said, "He's quite mature for his young age, and has quite the good head on his shoulders. What with taking such good care of Young Eri, and all." He said before he noticed that said child was missing, "Speaking of the little angel, where is she?"
"Taking a nap," Inko said with a slightly sad smile, "She's warmed up to all of us, but not to the same level that she has with Izuku and Kyōka."
Toshinori chuckled, "Daddy's little girl, eh?" He smiled, "Just as well, as much as we've tried, the girl is still such an enigma." He sighed sadly, "That little lady is the inspiration behind this little invention, if you can believe it."
The parents all gave him confused and apprehensive looks. "Ah, I see you haven't heard."
"Apparently her power nearly ran out of control one day a few weeks ago." This made Inko gasp while looking extremely worried, "To put it plainly, Young Midoriya and Young Jirō were watching over Eri while she trained with her Quirk alongside Nezu and Ectoplasm." He shrugged, "The Quirk she displayed was able to rewind Ectoplasm's clones into nothing. So they tested it on other forms of matter."
"I hope no one was injured," Mika said worriedly.
Toshinori shook his head, "Spooked, but not harmed," he continued, "Her Quirk only seems to work on organic matter." He said, "She tested it on a tree, and turned it into a sapling. Then Nezu took it a step further and brought out a skeleton of some sort. A rat, I believe. He asked her if she could use her power on it. She did."
Inko blinked, "Oh, my! You mean she brought it back to life?"
"Indeed she did," Toshinori smiled, "However, the power needed to do such a thing was too much for a child her age to handle, and her Quirk went out of control." He sipped his tea quietly, "It's lucky for all of us that Midnight was nearby, and was able to put the poor little thing to sleep."
Hisashi shook his head, "Thank heaven that no one was hurt."
Toshinori nodded, "Hence the reason that Young Midoriya began thinking this up." He said, "For those that are made for public use, there's to be a setting on them that allows the wearer to raise or lower the power output on their Quirk, making it more manageable for those with difficult Quirks like Young Eri."
Inko smiled at her son's thoughtfulness, "If you would draw up a contract for him to read over, then I'm sure that this invention will be a great success."

"You took too long," Aizawa droned as the students filed out onto the field in their gym clothes. "What did I say about time being precious?" He frowned as the class lined up in front of him, "No matter," he sighed as he took up a soft ball with a small black screen across part of it. "Now then, we're going to go through what I like to call a Quirk Apprehension Test."
[Quirk Apprehension Test?] Izuku and Kyōka thought similarly as the rest of the class muttered.
"What about the Entrance Ceremony," the brown haired girl, Ochako Uraraka, asked, "Or Guidance Sessions?"
Aizawa looked at her, "If you want to stay in this school to become a Hero, then you don't have time for something so pointless and irrational," he said, "This is U.A., where you wake up in the morning and hit the ground running, or else you fall behind and get kicked to the curb."
"Kicked to the - ?" Ten'ya stammered, "What do you mean, Sir?" He demanded as a feeling of absolute dread began to fall over Izuku's shoulders when he remembered something about one of U.A.'s teachers. One of them had expelled an entire class the previous year.
A very slow and disturbing grin began to form on Aizawa's face, "What I mean is that U.A. is known very well for the faculty's freestyle form of education," he said, "And my form of education is this: if you lack potential, then you not only fail my class, but you are no longer a student of U.A."
"Dude," Kyōka whispered frantically to Izuku, "Is he for real?"
"I think so," Izuku nodded slowly.
"Midoriya!" Aizawa shouted, "Come here."
Izuku's back straightened as he marched forward, "Er, y-yes, Mister Aizawa?"
"I was one of the judges during your Practical Exam," Aizawa stared down at him with the ball in hand, "As I understand it, you were Quirkless at that point, and until fairly recently, correct?" He asked, making the boy look down in embarrassment, "I'm sure you know that you're only attending this school because of a certain brainless oaf."
"Hey!" Kyōka shouted indignantly as the other students stared at the teen's back, "He earned his place here!"
Aizawa's eyes flashed red at her, "Be quiet," he commanded and the girl immediately clammed up, allowing him to return his attention to Izuku, "I will be honest with you, Midoriya. All Might and the types of Heroes he inspires: I don't care for them one bit. You're here becauseof him, so you'll find me pushing you harder than anyone else here today. Why? Because I want to know that you're worth training. If you succeed then you stay. Fail and you're out. Is that understood?"
Izuku gulped, "Wh-what would you like me to do?"
"First off, how far could you throw a ball before your Quirk emerged?" He asked, handing the boy the ball.
Izuku shook his head, "Not far, even after I took martial arts lessons." He said, and Aizawa waited, "Er, about fifty meters, give or take?"
Aizawa nodded, "Now that you have a Quirk, I want you to use your full strength to throw this as hard and as far as you can." He said and directed Izuku to a circle drawn onto the ground, "Do whatever you need to do as long as you do not step out of the circle."
Izuku nodded.
Katsuki just scoffed, "Loser's outta here like last week's garbage."
"Shut up!" Kyōka snapped at him. She then turned her attention to the boy, "Come on, Greenie! Show these jackasses what you can really do!" Her shout earned her another glare from Aizawa while Īda quietly admonished her for her language.
Izuku offered a small smile in her direction. But the truth of the matter was that he really hadn't had any chances to really test out what he could do outside of his father's sparring sessions. [But,] he told himself as he began to wind up, [I've got to try!]
"Hey," someone hissed at her from behind. She turned and saw the spiky red-haired boy with sharp teeth, "Did he seriously take the test while he was Quirkless?"
Kyōka leveled a glare at him, "What's it to you if he did?" She crossed her arms, "You got a problem with someone being Quirkless?"
To her surprise the boy seemed to be impressed, "Heck no, that's super manly of him if he did that!" He said, "All of us had Quirks, but he went in with his bare fists! Just like a real man!"
Ten'ya was looking at the boy with newfound respect, [He was Quirkless during the Exam?] His impression of the verdette changed yet again as he realized just how difficult it must have been for him during that time.
"He really risked his life to help me, then," Ochako muttered, remembering how he had struggled to lift a slab of concrete off of her.
Meanwhile, Izuku was about to make his throw. [Spider strength, don't fail me now!] He drew back his arm, and threw with everything he had.
The ball sailed from his open palm and high into the air with the burst of a sonic boom. Then it arced and began its descen. As it hit the ground, Aizawa's phone beeped, showing him just how far it had gone before it's descent. His eyebrows rose. "An even 5000 meters." Aizawa said out loud, stunned, "That's over three miles."
Izuku was stunned when he heard the man's claim, as were the rest of the class. The moment, however, passed as the boy with dyed red hair shouted and cheered for him, "Yeah! Way to go, Spider-Dude!" He shouted out as the others started applauding the impressive throw. "That was so manly!"
Katsuki was staring at the formerly Quirkless teen in shock, his mouth hanging open in absolute confusion. [Impossible,] the boy's thoughts rambled through his mind, [There's no possible way that he could have a Quirk!] The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, [This...this is payback...isn't it?!]
A few rows down from him, Kyōka shouted, "YES!" She jumped up happily. "See! I told you he had a Quirk, ya loudmouthed pomeranian!"
That was the last straw.
"DEKU!" Katsuki blasted off toward Izuku. "HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT!?"
The last thing Kyōka expected was for the loud blond to go on the offensive, but the moment he was blasting himself forward her feet were flying across the ground as well while her jacks plugged themselves into her choker.
Izuku saw him coming and panicked. "AAAAHHHH!" He shrieked just as Aizawa reached for his scarf and disappeared from sight in front of the entire class. Before he could do anything, Bakugō backpedaled as the green-haired teen disappeared from his line of fire, giving Kyōka just what she needed as she let loose a sonic scream.
It was nowhere near as powerful as what she'd used against Rappa, but it was enough to send the blond bomber tumbling across the ground. Stunned by the sudden attack, Bakugō rolled back to his feet quickly, ready for war. Before he could go on the offensive, though, Aizawa suddenly whipped his scarf out and wrapped it around him tightly. "What the hell?!" He snarled trying to free himself, but his Quirk wouldn't work, "The hell'd you do to me, Ear Bitch!?" He demanded while the girl prepared to let loose another scream at him.
Aizawa snapped his attention to the girl, "Jirō, stand down now, or you're expelled!," Aizawa then sneered at the boy, his eyes glowing red, "And you, Bakugō, stop trying to use your Quirk right now!" The scruffy teacher snapped harshly, "You wouldn't be able to break through my capture weapon, anyway as it's made from a special metal alloy woven into carbon fibers." Bakugō continued to struggle, however, and Aizawa grunted before throwing the struggling teen to the ground, "I said ENOUGH!" He roared, "Keep this up and you're expelled!"
Bakugō finally stopped his struggling, allowing the man to unwrap him from his cature weapon. Aizawa marched up to the boy and took him by the collar of his shirt, forcing him to look right into his red glowing eyes, "If you try anything like that again," the man spoke with a quiet tone of rage behind his voice, "You will not only be expelled from this school, but I will blacklist you from every Hero school in Japan," he saw the boy's eyes widen, "This is your one and only warning." He dropped the boy back to his feet, "Now get back in line."
He then turned his attention toward Kyōka, "Jirō, explain yourself." It was not a request.
The girl just crossed her arms, "Respectfully, Sir, I wasn't about to stand by and let Bakugō," she spat the name out as the blond passed by with a glare at her, "Try to hurt my best friend."
"And you didn't trust that I would step in?" Aizawa frowned at her.
Kyōka scoffed, "Sir, you singled Izuku out right off the bat," she reminded him, "You're going to have to gain my trust before I trust you with anything."
He scoffed and turned toward where Izuku had been standing, but found that his Quirk wouldn't work on the boy...or he had moved. "Midoriya, where are you?" He called out.
The air next to Kyōka shimmered slightly before Izuku appeared. Aizawa blinked, [When did he...?] He frowned, [Right after Jirō attacked Bakugō,] he realized that, within the split second that Bakugō regained his footing, and prepared to attack, the boy had moved with such speed that he put himself between the two combatants.
Aizawa hid a small smile behind his scarf: he was beginning to like this kid. "Midoriya," he said as the boy looked at him, "I wasn't aware that you had a secondary Quirk." He said as he walked up to the pair, "And given that I couldn't erase your Quirk with mine, you must be a complex Mutation-type."
"Erase," Izuku blinked as realization started to settle in, "You-you're the Underground Hero: Eraser Head!"
"Who?" Kyōka questioned.
"He's a secretive Hero that can erase a person's Quirk just by looking at them!" Izuku explained to her, then remembered what he had just done, "Uh, sir, I knew that I had a secondary Quirk but...that wasn't it."
Aizawa frowned, "What do you mean?"
Kyōka sighed as she felt another headache coming on, "Sir, his Quirk is basically a huge mess of spider-like abilities," she said and started counting off on her fingers, "Enhanced physical abilities, he can stick to any surface with his hands and feet and even run on the sides of buildings without losing his balance," that was just two fingers, "He can also build up some kind of electrical charge, and use it to blast someone when he punches them, I've seen him do that twice, and now...this." She gestured to the freckle-faced boy.
Aizawa looked like he was mentally taking into account what the girl said, but the rest of the students were gobsmacked. "Dude, that technically means that he has like five Quirks!" Said the blond boy with the lighting bolt highlights.
Ten'ya Īda shook his head, "Not necessarily, as some species of arachnids can camouflage themselves to the point of invisibility, and some do have a form of bio-electricity."
"Man! I thought I was the only invisible person here!" Shouted the floating clothes.
The teacher just groaned, "Just what I need: not just one, but three problem children." He sighed, his eyes landing on Bakugō, Midoriya, and now Jirō, "Thank you for the rundown on his abilities, but we need to continue with the tests." He said, shooing the pair back to the line, "And Jirō?" The girl turned to him, "Good work." She looked at him in confusion, "Out in the field, Heroes need to be ready to step in if things look ugly for their comrades."
Kyōka blushed slightly before returning to the line.
As it happened, Izuku's powers did well in Aizawa's tests.
After he threw the ball, they moved on to the real tests, starting with the 50 meter dash. He was pitted against Bakugō, and though he hadn't really meant to, he beat him by 0.13 seconds by finishing the race in 4.00 seconds.
Next came Grip Strength...Izuku won by breaking the machine, "I swear, it was an accident!" Izuku stammered to Mister Aizawa.
Aizawa cleared out his ear with his pinky, "Don't shout so loud," the man said, "You'd be more sorry if you didn't try your best, now get back in line so we can move on!"
In the Standing Long Jump, Izuku managed to jump clear of the sandbox and land around four feet away from the edge, though Katsuki and a sparkly boy named Aoyama kept going for several feet. The Repeated Side Steps were won by Kyōka's worst nightmare in the form of a diminutive little pervert named Minoru Mineta, who had been leering at all the girl's present...except for Kyōka. [Why does that of all things bother me so much?!] She screamed at herself.
Ochako actually received the highest score during the Ball Throw, which beat even Izuku's score when her ZeroGravity Quirk allowed the ball to keep going into the atmosphere, and, supposedly, into space, which made her score read Infinity.
"That is one crazy Quirk," Kyōka commented tiredly, completely out of breath from the tests. "How're you holding up?" She asked of the boy, who didn't even look winded, yet.
Izuku smiled at her, "I'm fine so far," he told her, holding up his arms, "My body feels a little tingly for some reason, but other than that I feel perfectly fine." He frowned, "I think all of these exercises are helping me charge up my bio-electricity."
Kyōka grinned at him, "Sure it's not because Yaoyorozu flashed you earlier?" She giggled at the absolute explosion of steam coming from his head and ears as his face brightened worse than Kirishima's hair.
"Quiet down!" Aizawa commanded with his Quirk activated for added effect.
The remainder of the tests were simple exercises in the form of Seated Toe Touches, Distance Running and Sit-Ups. Izuku did fair in all of them.
And when they finished, Aizawa had that terrifying grin on his face again, "Now we'll see who's going to be in my class." He said, "Let it be known that the one that comes in last is the one I'm sending home this time." He said before grumbling, "I got in trouble for sending off my entire class last time."
The freckle-faced teen paled considerably, "This really isthe guy that expelled his class!" Izuku hissed at Kyōka, who was shaking.
The result came up on the board, and the girl reached over to grab Izuku's hand before squeezing her eyes shut, "I can't look!"

"WHAT!" Two voices shouted.
"I lost to that loser!?" Bakugō roared angrily.
"I'm last!" Mineta shrieked, his scalp bleeding.
Aizawa glared at both of them, quieting them down before directing his gaze at the smaller boy, "That's right," he said as he stalked forward, "You're dead last." The man said, "But don't worry, I don't think you completely lack potential, so you'll be put into the General Studies Course, and, ifyou're lucky, you'll get another shot at the Hero Course during the Sports Festival," his eyes glowed, "However, until that time comes, pack your things and get out."
Izuku sighed in relief as he gave Kyōka's hand a small squeeze, "You did it, Kyōka!"
The girl peeked out from behind her lids, then smiled and threw her arms around him him, "You came in first!" She squealed happily, "I knew you'd be incredible!"
Aizawa nodded, "That's all." He said, "Class dismissed. You'll have the rest of the day to get acquainted with each other, and your dorms if you haven't already." He said as he took out a yellow slip from his pocket, and handed it to Mineta, "Mineta, you're to see the principal at once. Noexcuses. Let him know I'll be along momentarily." The short boy nodded dejectedly and slowly walked toward the locker room. "Midoriya, I want to talk to you."
Kyōka frowned at the man with her hands on her hips, "What? Not done dragging him through the mud?" She asked.
Aizawa gave the girl a look, "The fact that I'm overlooking your rude behavior toward a faculty member should speak volumes, Jirō," His eyes held a faint glow of red.
She crossed her arms, her jacks floating around her head threateningly, "It would speak volumes if you knew just how hard Izuku worked to get this far," she muttered snarkily.
He frowned at her while the boy hurried up to him to avoid any further confrontation, "Look, Midoriya, I'm not going to apologize for singling you out." The boy looked at his feet, used to such treatment from his former teachers, "However, I will say this." The boy perked up, "While I watched you during the Practical Exam, I noticed that you rescued a great many students at the risk to yourself. You even risked being injured by the Zero Pointer."
Izuku shrugged, "I couldn't just stand by and do nothing, Sir."
"I know," the man nodded, "Which is why I wanted to accept you into the Hero Course, even when you were Quirkless." Izuku's eyes widened, "You have what it takes to be a good, maybe even a great Hero." He explained, "And you proved to this school that it's examinations are flawed." He gave the young man a small grin, "The boy I just removed from the class will be replaced by another like yourself. He couldn't score very many Combat Points at all because he has a weak body, and a Quirk ill-suited for combat."
"So why single him out at all," Kyōka demanded, "You say that you wanted to accept him, Sir, but you laid into him pretty harshly."
Aizawa sighed, "Speaking plainly, it's because of All Might," he explained, both teens looking at him in confusion, "He's the reason that most of the exams across the country and beyond are so combat oriented." He said with no small amount of irritation, "Even though we started accepting those without Quirks, those with flashy, powerful Quirks will always gain more attention, and favor from Pros. And you've already got Japan's No.1 Hero vouching for you, so you'll understand why his interference caused me to be a little more...excessive."
Izuku sighed, "No, Sir, I understand," he said, "I honestly didn't want to stand out all that much unless I was trying for a work study, or internship."
"Understandable," he nodded, "However, just know that I am expecting great things from all of my students, and that goes doubly so for you." He said, "Do not let your newly developed Quirk go to your head like some people do, such as that boy that tried to attack you earlier." He advised with a frown, "People with powerful and flashy Quirks tend to become arrogant and petty, and I don't want to see that happen to you."
"Also, you appear to have more than a few surprises up your sleeve if that invisibility power of yours was unknown to you until now." He continued as the boy looked down at his hands, both of which began to fade in and out of visibility.
"Well, like Īda said, some spiders can camouflage themselves to the point of near invisibility, so I guess that's part of my Quirk, too." Izuku reasoned.
Aizawa smiled that wide smile again, "Well, you're going to have to do it again, and soon." He told him, "Tomorrow is going to be outright combat training against other students." Izuku and Kyōka looked at him in surprise as he warned them, "So you're going to need every advantage you can get. So don't hold anything back from now on." He turned and headed back toward the school, "This the U.A. Hero Academia, kid, where we go beyond our normal capabilities. That's what Plus Ultra means."
スパイダーマン
"So," Kyōka muttered as she and Izuku walked back toward their homes, "Some first day, huh?"
Izuku nodded tiredly, "You can say that again," the verdette sighed, "Not only did we get put in the same class as Kacchan, but our teacher is terrifying!" He shivered, "I don't think my heart can take another day like this one!"
The purplette snorted, "Like Aizawa said, this is U.A.," she said, "Where you hit the ground running, or get left behind in the dust." She thought about the short stack of a kid that had been kicked out of the class just a few minutes ago. "We need to keep our guard up."
"Just like we would if we were back on the streets," the verdette boy groaned, "I think I'd almost rather face those people that are after Eri."
Kyōka giggled as she slugged him in the arm with her school bag, "You did pretty good against that giant prick that came after us when we made a run for it," she smirked as the boy blushed bashfully, "Speaking of which, what did you do with your half of the reward money?"
"Not a thing," Izuku sighed, "Come on, Kyōka, my family's pretty poor, you think I'd know what to do with that much money?"
The girl thought for a second, then smirked at him, "That's okay," she giggled, "That just means you can take me on some really awesome dates!"
Her words had the desired effect as Izuku's face flushed crimson, "A duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-date!?" His voice was higher than she'd ever heard it. He looked at her as the girl skipped ahead of him so he wouldn't see the shit-eating grin on her face, or the light dusting of pink over her own cheeks. "Wait a minute! Were you serious?!" She didn't answer as she continued skipping ahead of them, "Hey! Wait up!" He scrambled after her as she started outright laughing and ran away from him, "Kyōka!"
[You're cute, Green Bean,] the girl thought happily, [But you're so clueless.] She ran toward the dorm buildings and slowed down once she was through the gates.
"Hey, Jirō!" She heard someone call out to her. She halted for a moment and saw Ochako jogging over to her, "Wait up!"
She looked behind her to make certain that Izuku was no longer chasing her. She then turned to the bubbly brunette, "What's up, Uraraka?"
The girl stopped next her, winded, "Nothing really," she said, "Yaoyorozu and the other girls in our class are having a get-together in her room, and they wanted to make sure you were invited."
"Sounds cool," Kyōka smiled, "Tell them I'll be there." She said before looking at her, "What time?"
Ochako shrugged, "It's at six o'clock," she smiled before turning to leave, "I'll see you later, 'kay?"
She waved at the girl as she ran toward the dorms, smiling, "Get-together, huh?" She muttered, thinking of Eri for a moment, "I should probably text Izuku and let him know what's going on."
