slanted words mean thoughts
Nita had everything in life that anyone could ever want.
Money. Loving parents. A good education.
She had everything—except someone to love. Someone to call her own. Someone who would love her for who she truly was.
Every time she thought she had found that person, they betrayed her. They loved her money. They loved her lifestyle. They loved the idea of "living the dream." They wanted to know what it felt like to live her life—never to share it.
Eventually, Nita began to believe that maybe she was meant to be alone.
One night, needing space to clear her thoughts, she went for a walk. The streets were quiet, the air cool, her mind heavy. Lost in her thoughts, she stepped into the road without looking.
She didn't hear the car at first.
Only when the blaring horn pierced the silence did she look up—and by then, it was far too late.
