Chapter 1 - Flower Crowns in Red Puddle (1)

Inside a technology company building in the country of Golgary.

"How is your voice now? Is it better? Try speaking again."

"Ah, ah, hello. Hello... Hmm, it's... a lot better now. Thank you for fixing it, Dad."

"Alright. Now, go find your twin. Dad has some work to do."

"Alright!"

The little girl walked out of the room.

The man sat back in his chair, looking frustrated.

Sigh... I don't know how much longer I can keep the peace. Every day, things are getting worse. If war breaks out, everything I've worked for will be gone.

The man muttered to himself as he looked out at the growing number of protesters gathering outside the building.

*

"How's your voice, sis?"

"It's much better. Thanks for asking."

"How's Dad doing? Does he still look stressed?"

"Yes... He does look stressed... and the protesters outside are only making things worse."

"There isn't really much... we can do to help him since... we were programmed not to hurt people."

"Well... Let's just continue our game, then. It's your turn to seek!"

"No! It's your turn!"

"Are we really going to... argue about this?"

"I guess not... Alright, then. I'll be the seeker. Go hide somewhere quickly... I'll count to ten."

The blonde-haired child began looking for a hiding place while the brown-haired child started counting.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three..."

"Four..."

"Five..."

"Six..."

"Seven..."

"Eight..."

"Nine..."

"And ten! Ready or not, here I come!"

The child began looking around the area. She continued searching for a while until she spotted a familiar blonde hair colour peeking out from behind a trash bin.

"Hehe..." She let out a small, mischievous laugh.

The blonde-haired child was still hiding behind the bin.

The brown-haired child quietly approached the hiding spot, intending to surprise her twin.

However, when she got there, she noticed that her twin was no longer behind the bin.

Then, from behind her, a brown-haired child approached quietly until...

"BOOO!"

"AAH!"

The blonde-haired child was caught off guard by the sudden jump scare and fell to the ground.

"Hahahahahaha! You should have seen the face you made when I scared you!"

"Hey... That wasn't funny! What if you got scared like that?"

"...It was pretty funny."

The blonde-haired child began crying.

"...Hey now... It's just a prank. You don't have to be so emotional."

She continued crying.

"...Alright, alright! I'm sorry for scaring you... I promise I won't do it again."

The brown-haired child held out her hand to her twin, who was still crying on the floor.

The blonde-haired child eventually stopped crying and reached out to take her twin's hand.

The brown-haired child pulled her twin up, helping her stand again.

"How about we take a walk in the flower garden?" the brown-haired child asked.

"Sure... I wanted to see if the flowers had bloomed yet."

The twins held hands as they walked towards the flower garden.

The doors automatically opened, and the twins walked inside.

"Wooooow!"

The twins exclaimed simultaneously.

As soon as they stepped inside the garden, they were greeted by a beautiful sight of blooming flowers.

All kinds of flowers were blooming right before their eyes.

"Look at the flowers... They're so pretty!"

"Yeah... Look at this one. It matches your eye colour!"

"Yeah! And this one matches yours too!"

"Aww... That's so sweet of you."

"Yes... I know!"

"Let's pick every kind of flower we can find and make beautiful flower crowns out of them!"

"Let's do that!"

The twins began picking all kinds of flowers from the garden.

By the time they finished, they had gathered far more flowers than they needed.

"I think... we picked a little too many."

"Yeah... I think so too."

"...We could make one for Dad... and one for Mom as well! Yes, I think that's a great idea!"

"Alright, then... Let's get started!"

The twins slowly began making flower crowns using the flowers they had picked. They used golden strings from inside their bodies as the base for the crowns.

"Phew... That took quite some time... But I think they turned out pretty well. What do you think, sis?"

"I think they turned out great too! Here... Wear this one. It'll look good on you."

The brown-haired child placed one of the flower crowns on her twin's head.

"Thanks! You should wear this one. It suits you."

The blonde-haired child placed the rose crown on her twin's head.

"How do I look? Does it look good?"

"Yeah! It looks beautiful. How about me?"

"You look ugly... Nah, I'm just kidding! You look good in it."

"Aww, thanks, sis!"

As they were complimenting each other, they heard their father calling for them from a distance.

"Nyuro! Auro! Where are you two?!"

Auro, the brown-haired twin, whispered to Nyuro.

"Dad's calling us... Let's play a little prank on him!"

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"Oh, come on... Don't be such a loser!"

"..."

"Alright, fine... But only this once."

The two sneaked out of the garden without their father noticing and quietly made their way into his office to set up a simple trap.

"Now we wait," Auro whispered to her twin as they hid underneath their father's desk.

Not long after, footsteps could be heard approaching the room.

Gasp! That must be Dad!

A few seconds later, the door opened.

Suddenly, the bucket of water they had placed above the doorway came crashing down.

Auro jumped out from underneath the desk, shouting, "Got you, Dad!"

But something unexpected happened.

She simply stood there, unable to say a word.

Nyuro noticed that her twin wasn't saying anything, so she slowly got up from underneath the desk to see what had happened.

When she looked up, she realised that it wasn't their dad.

Instead, it was a man wearing a black suit and sunglasses.

He was completely soaked from the bucket of water.

"I've found the assets," the man said into the microphone beside his ear.

Soon, two more men entered the room.

The twins didn't know what to do.
