When the words fell, Stuart Truman withdrew his hand again and turned to leave without looking back.
Keira Leaf watched his figure get into the car, and only as the car gradually disappeared into the night did she whirl around in anger, storming back into the building, determined to confront Joshua Sulliven.
All the way up to the second floor, not seeing Joshua in the living room, Keira headed straight for the study.
"Joshua Sulliven, how could you treat Stuart Truman like that--!"
Pushing open the study door, Keira froze in her tracks.
The previously immaculate and well-organized study was now a complete wreck. Even books from the shelves had been knocked down, not to mention the floor littered with glass fragments and bloodstains, painting a sinister picture.
Joshua Sulliven sat in front of the desk, a cigarette butt between his fingertips. The cigarette butt trembled slightly, its long ash precariously clinging, threatening to fall at any moment.
