Standing before the ancient shrine, its white bricks weathered with age, I stepped inside alongside Liam. Intricate carvings of the goddess Luna adorned the walls, her image radiant and serene. The ceiling was etched with beautiful depictions of nature, adding to the shrine's tranquil atmosphere. Despite everything outside, this sacred place radiated peace. Wooden pews lined the space for devotees, and at the center stood a large white altar inlaid with golden engravings of vines and flora. A statue of Lady Faye towered above it, her face veiled in white.
A solemn figure approached us—the minister of the shrine—bowing low.
"Greetings, sun and moon of the Eastborne Empire," he said respectfully.
"Minister Daniel Thompson," Liam acknowledged, his tone cool. "I imagine there's more to this invitation than prayer."
