Chapter 136
Because I'm Capable
I finished my lunch, the whispers fading into background noise. I knew I couldn't let Monica's actions and the petty gossip fester. I needed to address the situation head-on.
I stood up, my chair scraping against the floor, and walked directly toward Monica's table. She was sitting with a group of nurses, laughing and chatting, but her eyes narrowed as she saw me approaching.
"Monica," I said, my voice calm but firm, "can I talk to you for a moment? Alone?"
Monica's smile faltered, and she exchanged glances with her companions. "What is it, Alayna?" she asked, as her voice laced with suspicion. "Can't you wait?"
"No, I can't," I said, as my gaze unwavering. "This is important."
Monica sighed dramatically and stood up, gesturing for me to follow her.
We moved to a quiet corner of the cafeteria, away from the prying eyes and ears of the other nurses.
She crossed her arms. "Alright. What's this about?"
