Many things, Rozen had actually long since known in his heart.
For example…
"Where exactly did Chaldea's Fate system come from?"
This question had been mentioned before.
Or rather, many within Chaldea actually knew this matter quite clearly.
Because this matter was not exactly a secret.
"According to what was said when the Fate system was established, Chaldea's summoning system was developed based on the Holy Grail War of Fuyuki City as its prototype."
Rozen said this.
"But if it was modeled after the Holy Grail War, then that proves, at the very least, that Chaldea—or rather, the former Director, Marisbury Animusphere—must have come into contact with the Holy Grail War, right?"
If that were not the case, how could Chaldea have developed the Fate system using the Holy Grail War as its prototype?
Rozen did not believe the Animusphere family would possess information on the ritual of the Holy Grail War.
After all, the Animusphere family were the great nobles ruling over the Department of Astromancy at the Clock Tower, not the Department of Spiritual Evocation. It was unlikely they would be involved in summoning rituals.
Therefore, Rozen speculated that Marisbury Animusphere must have once come into contact with the ritual of the Holy Grail War, and only then was he able to successfully develop Chaldea's summoning system of Fate.
"Do you all remember which Singularity we first came into contact with?" Rozen looked at the group and said, "It wasn't one of the Seven Singularities, but the Fuyuki City Singularity."
At these words, everyone fell silent, and Artoria [Alter] raised her brow.
Recalling the past, the Fuyuki City Singularity had been guarded by Artoria [Alter], and even sustained by her.
Thus, when the Fuyuki City Singularity was brought up, Artoria [Alter] could not ignore it.
It was precisely because of this that she somewhat understood why Rozen was bringing up the Fuyuki City Singularity.
After all, once the Holy Grail War was mentioned, one could never separate it from Fuyuki City.
No matter what, Fuyuki City was the very origin of the Holy Grail War.
"Why, before the Incineration of Humanity, would a place like Fuyuki City become a Singularity?" Rozen continued, "I don't think that was a completely unrelated coincidence."
Then, could it be said that everything began in Fuyuki City?
And in addition…
"I also once investigated, browsing through Chaldea's entire database and intelligence archives, and what I found was that the establishment of Chaldea contained certain subtle and unnatural aspects."
Rozen glanced at the silent Olga Marie, then continued.
"For example, in order for Chaldeas—the replica of Earth's soul—to operate successfully, it would need a power plant on the scale of supplying a whole nation for half a year. On top of that, all of Chaldea's other facilities also ran on electricity. Even the mana required by the Fate system—summoning Servants, supplying mana, and so forth—all of it was maintained by converting electricity into mana."
Because of this, Chaldea's energy had always been in short supply—until they obtained the Holy Grail of King Solomon. Only then was the situation alleviated, allowing Chaldea's operations to be largely sustained by the Grail's mana.
But before that, Chaldea had no such means.
Thus, for Chaldea to operate successfully, it required funding on the scale of a national budget.
However…
"According to the records, before Chaldea was officially founded, the assets owned by Marisbury Animusphere, head of the Animusphere family and former Director, consisted at most of a valuable offshore oil field base and a nuclear power plant in France."
Rozen pointed this out calmly.
"In other words, the Animusphere family simply did not have the funds to run Chaldea, much less construct it."
Yet in the end, Chaldea still began operating successfully.
And the reason for this was never found.
"Very suddenly, the former Director came to possess abundant funds, enough to allow Chaldea to run successfully."
Rozen swept his gaze over everyone.
"And then, I also discovered that the time when the former Director suddenly had the funds to operate Chaldea coincided exactly with not long after I was rescued."
And then…
"The existence known as Romani Archaman also appeared in this world almost simultaneously, with various records and documents of his activities beginning to surface, until eventually he entered Chaldea and even made contact with me."
Rozen fixed his gaze on Roman.
"All of this—if you call it coincidence—then it is all far too coincidental."
If that was the case, then couldn't all these accidents, coincidences, and sudden events be connected?
And if they were connected, what would that give birth to?
"What comes next is just my personal speculation."
Rozen declared decisively.
"First, let us view the origin of everything as the moment when the former Director, in order to make Chaldea fully operational, began pursuing funding."
For Chaldea to operate successfully, the former Director needed to obtain abundant funds.
Not ordinary funds, but at a scale comparable to a national budget.
Such resources—even the entire Clock Tower might not be able to provide them, let alone a single family.
And in order to perfect Chaldea's facilities, the summoning system for Servants was necessary. Naturally, the former Director would turn his thoughts to that ritual.
That is…
"The Holy Grail War."
Rozen struck at the heart of the matter.
"As long as he participated in the ritual of the Fuyuki City Holy Grail War, the former Director could not only come into contact with that ritual and obtain its data, but by winning, he could also gain the Holy Grail of Fuyuki City as a prize, make a wish upon it, and obtain sufficient funding."
Such a plan, killing two birds with one stone, was one he could not possibly ignore.
"And in order to gain sufficient advantage in the Holy Grail War and obtain powerful Servants, the former Director would, naturally, set his sights on us—the experimental subjects."
Rozen spoke without joy or sorrow.
"The greatest advantage of Demi-Servants is that they possess physical bodies and do not require excessive mana supply. In addition, they lack the overwhelming will, convictions, and individuality of Heroic Spirits, making them easier to control. If he had a suitable catalyst at hand, then of course the former Director would wish to conduct the Demi-Servant experiment in advance, attempting to summon a Servant into a test-tube infant. Once successful, not only would the Demi-Servant experiment be realized, but he would also gain a tremendous edge."
And so, Rozen was chosen.
"I checked—the Fuyuki City Holy Grail War was held in 2004, yet in 2002, the former Director suddenly initiated the Demi-Servant experiment in preparation, selecting one infant among the cultivated test-tube children as the subject."
That experimental subject was Rozen, then only two years old.
"I think the former Director had prepared himself mentally to spend two years realizing his goal. Yet unexpectedly, on the very first experiment, the experiment succeeded."
Rozen spoke with bitter irony.
"Perhaps it was because the compatibility between subject and summoned Servant was unusually good, or perhaps the prepared catalyst and the subject's affinity was too perfect. In the end, that Servant descended successfully into the body of the subject, even though Chaldea's summoning system had not yet been perfected."
At this point, Rozen looked at the ring in his hand.
It was the brilliant ring named Miracle.
The reason he looked at it was simple.
"It is said that at that time, the catalyst used by the former Director was a single ring."
Rozen's voice resounded slowly.
"The ring once possessed by the King of Magic, Solomon."
