Chapter 442 - Chapter 442: Tag!, Part 6

"His mind. His heart. His energy. They're all connected amongst each other..." Criollo mumbled as he'd try to pick up his own speed, snagging a candy apple and chowing down to test its effects. He could feel his body spiking in the same energy, his mind flooded with such taste, before seeing off the corner of his eye the child sprinting at his direction. He snapped his fingers, allowing the two animal crackers to swoop down and act as his substitute, as he'd move out of the way and gazed at the apple's juices. Sweet, yet gelatinous. Like an oozed filling, a jam that tried to replicate water and the color of the apple itself. He looked up as he'd saw the child bolting from tree to tree, bouncing off each and every one of them, laughing maniacally as per his usual. It was here that he understood what was going on, as he'd feel the energy practically pulse within the apple, another bite to boost himself once again.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

His heart was starting to rise. His blood was starting to course. He'd prepare himself as he'd see Harvard bracing another straight charge, lunging his arms like he was a wolf, his mouth sharpening and shaping like the Nuckelavee's. Crumbs were scattered around, letting the Sparrow take the child's attention, even though he can still see the Guard standing still and anticipating his next move. His arms elongated as he'd swat the bird away, cracking the beast into pieces, the force strong enough to break through several of the trees, a crater left at the House's walls. His mind was still functioning. His vision was still live. The only difference that made him be from here to a mere splat on the doors of the Goddess' home was of a meek creature. "It's too fast for him to recognize... Too much stimulation..." He'd mumble, his voice a trigger for the boy to twist his head and track back. He could see the legs quickly curving and lunging forward, letting his arm drag across the ground as he aimed for a clock across Criollo's jaw.

He would parry such an attack with his axe, causing it to avert the strike by an inch, albeit at the loss of said axe, wildly flung off into the roof, carving into the top and letting the crumbs fall. Right before it touches the ground, Criollo lets his other axe shuffle through the candies, stopping at orange and yellow, the aroma quickly increasing his mind's function and physical capabilities far beyond the usual, as if the mind was too far for the body to react. As the latter was forced to play catch-up, Criollo remained still, letting the crumbs come down and have the boy's attention grabbed to strike at where the impact came from. Even as he was staring at the beast face-to-face, it didn't recognize Criollo as the target. Another animal cracker, a lizard, would step in, letting break off the tail and regenerate, a continuous set of crumbs to keep the boy's attention. The Squirrel would swoop in at the same time, taking those tails and scattering them, prompting Harvard to follow and attack mindlessly at the trail. Eventually, those crumbs would be built up across the tree the two stand, letting Harvard know and rip the very trunk so he can swing it around like a massive mallet, prompting Criollo to jump over.

The second he landed was the second Harvard found the Guard again.

He'd chuck the tree at the Guard's direction, grabbing ahold of the base, but not too tight as to lose its speed and precision. The weight was quick on shifting, letting Harvard nudge it to the left in order to make a barricade. He'd then grab ahold of a second tree and built his momentum up again, cackling proudly as he recognized that, even if the tree failed to catch him, the sudden shift in the earth was the perfect indicator to retort back with his own tag. The force behind the thrust was enough to knock over and break apart the makeshift creatures, meaning he wouldn't have to worry about his attention being distracted anymore.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump. Thump. Thump!

His heart is beating faster and faster, his mind racing with the amount of sugar in his system. He can feel the shift of the chocolate earth being made with Tomberry's senses, the Jungle as his own body. He found Criollo. "GOTCHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" A blood-curdling scream as he'd bolt at the source, a palm straight down on the ground, a fist strong enough to shatter the House's flooring, his mouth watering not out of hunger, but of pride. Of victory. A foolproof plan for the eyes of the mad, yet once Harvard's mind comes back after such exposure to the candies, he'd see once more that he was distracted.

The Gummy Bears.

The two gummy bears adorned in the cape, letting the latter fall and build up the twigs and branches from itself and the tree tossed to make up enough impact to catch the child off-guard. The tree itself, on the other hand, was still thrown and made impact, shattering off Criollo's arm. He willingly let himself be hurt by the incoming tree, the second axe implanted on its side, letting the Guard hang on for dear life during the toss, as he'd try to reattach his arm through some vines that grown out of the area, tying it into a cast. Harvard would try to get himself ready to charge again, but something happened inside the boy. Something that caused his vision to go dark, his body to go limp fully, his mind boiled into mush.

His heart has stopped.

The boy laid on the ground with a poignant thud, his face crashing into the same shrubbery that was left of Criollo's cape, drooling out from his mouth as if he was sleeping. He was still alive, albeit barely. Had it not been for his Monster Magic, he truly would've died. He couldn't even move his eyes properly anymore, merely glancing up time to time in order to let him catch the gaze of the Guard, now dragging himself across the ground as he meets on the same eye level.

"Wuh...whuhwa.... wer huppah..." Harvard couldn't even form a coherent sentence, his tongue practically dangling out of his mouth as he tried to speak.
