Chapter 10 - 10

Myron lifts his arms, stretching like a cat before rolling over in bed. A pair of brown eyes inches from his own.

"Devils, Tess, why are you staring at me?"

Tess giggled and pressed a kiss to his forehead. "What a silly question. Must I answer?"

"If you don't want to be kicked out into the hallway nude I think that's your best bet."

Tess pulled back to cock her head, amused. "As if you'd let anyone else see me. But if you must know - I think you're stunningly handsome."

With don't hand Myron keeps the sheets covering his torso as he rose to a sitting position. "Last night was fun, but you should go. I have much to do today."

Tess stares down at his covered torso, he rolls his eyes.

"Perhaps again later?" he asks.

She looks up before her gaze falls down to the sheets - no - the hand holding the sheets in place.

There's a silver band on his finger studded with small diamonds. It's beautiful. The sun beaming through the window caught the light sending spherical-shaped rainbows scattering across the floor.

Myron flexed his fingers. "What's this?"

"An engagement ring, silly." Tess reached up to push some curls from his forehead. "Myron Atlas - son of Alpha Atlas will you marry me?"

Myron wasn't sure if he should laugh or choke in surprise so he just stared at the piece of metal. He wracked his brain trying to find a way to politely decline her but show his gratitude for the gift.

Thankfully, his door opened. His father was standing in the doorway fully decked out in his armor that was freshly polished. He must've just transformed into his human form because he had his wold ears sticking up from his hair, which had leaves and twigs stuck in it.

Tess squeaked, startled.

"Tess, if you would - my son," he cut a sharp look at Myron who was still studying the ring. "Has much to do today and I'm pleased to inform you that it doesn't involved a bed."

Startled Tess reached for her robe. She pulled it on underneath the covers before climbing from the bed. Tess padded toward the door then stopped to turn toward Myron. Her pleasant expression pulled into a scowl.

"My ring."

"Well, surely you'd want me to remember out time together?" Myron cooed, bringing his hand to his lap to caress the ring.

Tess opened her mouth to argue but his father cut her off, his tone cold and unforgiving.

"Leave, now or I'll have you whipped."

Tess scurried from the room not looking back. When she was out of sight, Myron summoned his shadows - flicking a wrist to send the tendrils to search for clothes.

His father watched him through narrowed eyes. Once properly dressed, Myron pushed off the covers now sporting a fresh shirt and pants. "Is there a reason you're still standing there?"

"When are you going to grow up?" his father hissed. "Soon you'll be king of this kingdom - how am I to trust you with a kingdom when you're sleeping with any warm body you come across?"

Myron scowled, his canines popping. "Father-"

"To make matters worse? You're eighteen and still do not have a mate to settle down with."

To distract himself Myron bends to pull on his hunting boots. His father continued to ramble but he wasn't really listening.

His mind wandered back to the previous night with the noble he along with his sister and a couple of her friends kidnapped - Noah.

No one had even talked to him like he did. Myron had to take a moment to compose himself before he said anything to the noble.

Normally anyone else who'd been sarcastic toward him wouldn't live to see the light of day...honestly? Myron hadn't even been bothered with Noah's reaction - is it odd that he liked it?

"Myron!"

Startled, Myron looked up.

"Of course. Here I am rambling like a madman and you're not even listening."

"S-sorry. I-"

His father snorts. "I don't want your apology. Listen, boy, that's all I ask of you. Listetn. Think." he sighs, exasperated. He massaged the skin between his eyebrows. "Your sister Jenns asked me to fetch you."

Myron noticed how his father softened his tone when he said his sister's name. He tried no to let that bother him - though it always did.

He wondered vaguely if he would've been treated differently had Jenna been his firstborn. Shaking off the though Myron stood. "Thank you. I'll head down now."
