Chapter 283 - Outrageous! Completely Outrageous!

As previously mentioned, Calvin's updated summoning cards often had different forms, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon was no exception. Its current form, Sin Blue-Eyes White Dragon, was one of these variations.

Sting was utterly stunned by this transformation. Once again, the thought crossed his mind: What's the point of continuing this fight? You might as well just give up!

Especially now, since he had essentially walked right into a trap earlier, he had managed to hold on by using his agility to flee, given the difference in their physical size. But now, here he was, clinging tightly to Sin Blue-Eyes White Dragon's arm.

Naturally, Calvin wasn't going to go easy on him. He commanded Blue-Eyes White Dragon to forcefully raise its claw and slam it into the ground. Sting was knocked out cold, rendered powerless.

Even in his final moments of consciousness, he thought about his beloved cat, Lector.

Only Rogue remained, fighting desperately. Calvin didn't even bother sending in his other summoned creatures. Instead, he had Susanoo fire an arrow, forcing Rogue to expose a weakness. Red-Eyes Black Dragon swung its tail without hesitation, and the battle ended.

Though the explanation took a while, the actual fight was incredibly short. In just about ten minutes, Sabertooth had been completely wiped out.

Their all-in gamble failed miserably, leaving their score at 40 points.

As for Fairy Tail, Calvin's defeat of Pascal and the destruction of Sabertooth earned them 14 points, bringing their score to an astonishing 71. At this point, the championship was practically guaranteed.

"Well then, who should I go after next?" Calvin stretched lazily, looking like he hadn't just fought an intense battle. While others might have thought Calvin had won effortlessly and with style, summoning and controlling seven beasts at once required nearly all of his strength.

Almost all of it.

Calvin was about to withdraw his summons and search for more "points" when he suddenly paused, noticing something unusual.

"Huh? It seems like this girl is hiding something…" Calvin glanced at the unconscious Minerva. His sensitivity to magic allowed him to sense a slight, lingering magical presence near her—something he could feel but couldn't see.

"Is it hidden in a pocket dimension? Since she's unconscious, the magic must be weakening," Calvin mused, surprised. If he wasn't mistaken, this magic belonged to...

Reaching into the space around Minerva, Calvin pulled out a small, dark red-furred cat, fast asleep.

"Just as I thought—an Exceed. Isn't this the White Dragon boy's cat? I remember he was pretty boastful. But seriously, why would this girl bring a cat into battle?"

Without overthinking it, Calvin gently placed the cat beside Sting. He had a soft spot for cats—he always treated Happy well, even though Happy was a bit afraid of him.

Calvin often wondered why Happy was so scared of him. Just because he played a few pranks on him when he was little didn't seem like enough reason.

After setting the cat next to Sting and observing it, Calvin remarked with amusement, "What a peculiar species. I thought Happy's blue fur was strange enough, but there's also dark red and even grass green fur (Rogue's cat). At least Charle and Lily look normal. Maybe their fur color reflects their personality?"

With that idle thought, Calvin summoned Fenrir and headed toward the following "points."

The time between Calvin's encounter with Sabertooth and the end of the battle was a mere ten minutes, though it had felt much longer. Meanwhile, other guilds had been participating in the contest in earnest.

The most active participants were undoubtedly from the Lamia Scale. First, Yuka and Toby teamed up to defeat one of the Quatro Cerberus mages. Then, the handsome team from Blue Pegasus beat two of the Mermaid Heel mages. After that, Lyon and Jura took down two more of the Quatro Cerberus mages, racking up three points in one go.

But Mermaid Heel wasn't just watching from the sidelines. Shortly after Calvin defeated Sabertooth, Millianna quickly took down the last mage from Quatro Cerberus, making them the second guild to be eliminated.

Right after that, Kagura suddenly appeared and swiftly took down Yuka and Toby, earning two points for Mermaid Heel. This happens when Calvin finishes placing Sting's cat beside him.

The current standings are as follows:

Fairy Tail: 71 pointsMermaid Heel: 43 pointsSabertooth: 40 pointsLamia Scale: 33 pointsBlue Pegasus: 32 pointsQuatro Cerberus: 15 points

Given these results, Fairy Tail had essentially secured the championship. The remaining guilds totalled only 32 points combined. Even if every other guild scored the maximum points available, they could only manage:

Mermaid Heel: 25 pointsLamia Scale: 25 pointsBlue Pegasus: 23 points

At this stage, the remaining battles were mostly a formality—the real fight was for second place.

There's an old saying: Never give up until the last moment. But in this case, the previous moment had quietly slipped away without anyone noticing.

Some might say Lamia Scale because they had Jura but no chance to use him if you asked who was most frustrated with this outcome. Others say Mermaid Heel is sitting in second place but with no hope of catching up. Some argue it was the event organisers since the suspense had been resolved early, leaving the rest of the competition as mere entertainment.

But in reality, the most frustrated were the other members of Fairy Tail—especially Gray, Erza, and Lexus.

All three of them hated being overshadowed. Once they realised the situation, they sprang into action. Gray wiped out Blue Pegasus's pretty boy team, and Erza quickly defeated Jenny from Blue Pegasus.

As for Laxus, he had his agenda. He wasn't interested in fighting weaker opponents—he wanted to challenge the strongest. Since the strongest was on his team, he settled for the second strongest: Lamia Scale's Jura.

Calvin's summons had beaten Jura before, and Laxus, with his pride, couldn't help but think he could take Jura down just as quickly. Even though he knew Jura was firm, he felt confident.

Lamia Scale wasn't about to settle for fourth place, either. Before Laxus could reach Jura, Jura had already taken out Ichiya, Blue Pegasus's captain. Sherria, the God Slayer, had defeated Mermaid Heel's heavy hitter, and Lyon quickly dispatched Millianna, leaving Mermaid Heel with only Kagura and Blue Pegasus wholly eliminated.

This boosted Lamia Scale's score to 40, tying them with Sabertooth. They could surpass Mermaid Heel's 43 points with more effort, though Fairy Tail's 75 was still far out of reach.

With the competition winding down, the crowd now had new questions. Could Fairy Tail break 80 points? Would Lamia Scale overtake Mermaid Heel for second place?

The answers would come in the following battles.

Soon enough, Laxus found Jura, Erza clashed with Kagura, and Gray faced against Lyon again.

Meanwhile, Lamia Scale's last remaining member, Sherria, was moving cautiously. She knew that defeating one more opponent could secure second place for her guild.

Her target was Fairy Tail. She knew she couldn't beat Kagura, and after witnessing Erza's power firsthand, she had no desire to face her either. The fierce-looking Laxus was also not an option, and Calvin—the strongest—was a guaranteed loss.

That left her with two choices: Gray or Mirajane.

While Mirajane had impressed her when she defeated Jenny, Sherria figured she could pull off something similar. Gray, on the other hand, was slightly weaker than Lyon, someone she knew well. She thought she had a good chance against him.

Just as she was deep in thought, a cheerful voice rang out.

"Jackpot! It's the Sorcerer Weekly cover girl!"

Sherria's heart leapt with excitement, and she charged toward the source of the voice, brimming with confidence.

But when she reached Mirajane, her excitement quickly turned to despair.

"C-C-Calvin?! Why is he here? Isn't he supposed to be fighting Jura? What's he doing sticking so close to a woman?! This is outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!"

The sight that greeted her was Calvin and Mirajane standing together, holding hands, radiating an aura of pure sweetness.

"Ahhhh! This is too much! I want to be like that with Lyon too!"
