(Leander POV)
While I was looking at the Flags, Kassandra came back holding a wrapped gift box. "One flag do you like the most?" I heard her ask me, which startled me.
"You startled me. Why are you so good at walking like a ninja? Are you a part cat or something?" I laugh at my stupid joke. All I got from her was a stare, saying what I said was ridiculous.
Ignoring her stare, I responded to her question, "I like the black flag with the laurel wreath and Cronus symbol. I know the other flag is the Spartan flag, but I have no clue about the other flag."
"Well, you would not know about that flag since it has been erased from history by the creator himself." She said while putting down the present and walking over to the flag.
Seeing her touch the flag with a gentleness I have never seen her do before. "Why would the creator remove it from history if he is the one to create it?"
She stopped touching the flag and looked me in the eyes, "He decided at one point that he wanted to make sure certain people did not know about his kingdom until it was too late."
"What people would he want to fool to the point he would erase his creation, and what do you mean by too late?" I responded with a perplexed face.
Smiling at me and pointing to the present, she said, "Before I give you a history lesson on the unknown history of Greece. Open your present that I have been dying to give you."
Before walking to the present, I repeatedly heard the words 'Unknown history of Greece' in my mind that would not leave me alone. By the time I snapped out of my thoughts, I was standing in front of the present.
"Go ahead and open it, and I promise all your questions will be answered." She said, but I noticed a little cryptic tone in her statement.
Not questioning it, and picked up the present and sat on the couch. I started to open the gift when I noticed it was a sheath. Picking it up and withdrawing the sword, I noticed it was a sword from ancient Greece by all the studies under Kassandra.
I marveled at the sight of the sword and how it fits in my hand just right. Then I saw some words on the blade and looked closer at them.
"Say the words out loud, Leander." I heard Kassandra's words, and I could not help but follow her instructions.
"Past and present shall merge into one person. Forever to be intertwined." After I read the words, I felt something inside change. I was about to lose consciousness when I felt being embraced by a warm hug.
On my last bit of strength, I looked at the person who caught me to see Kassandra looking at me passionately. Then she said, "It is time, my love to be the person you are meant to be." Before losing consciousness, I last remember her lips pressed against mine.
(Kassandra POV)
After kissing my love, he disappeared. Before I could even worry, I heard footsteps behind me.
"So it is finally time. Do not worry, my love, and he will be fine. After all, I am still here with you." I heard a voice behind me before arms wrapped around my waist.
Turning my head to look at the new voice, I could see a more mature and built Leander. I leaned into his embrace and said, "But you had a nasty first couple of years. I do not think I prepared him enough for what will come."
"No, you did great in preparing what is to come for both of us." He said before kissing me.
I smiled, but I knew there were many things he never did tell me about. This makes me fear what he would come across if he never said to me about it.
(3rd POV)
On a bloody battlefield, many Spartan soldiers were cleaning up the battlefield by killing the remaining Persians and piling them up. In the middle was their King Leonidas spectating everything around him.
Then a soldier approached him with a tied-up Persian. When he got in front of Leonidas, he started to speak, "We are betrayed, my king. Xerxes knows of the path behind the mountain. They are coming." While speaking, he kicked the back of the knees of the Persian making him kneel in front of Leonidas.
The Persian said, "By dawn, you'll be completely surrounded!" Lifting his head and looking into the eyes of Leonidas.
To have the King of Spartans answer, "We are Spartans, when are we not." At this point, all the nearby Spartans have come over to spectate what was happening.
"Spartans!" said the Persian while spitting at him, "That word will mean nothing when Xerxes wipes your bloodline from the face of th-" Before he could finish his sentence, the spear in Leonidas' hand stabbed through his mouth and came out on the other side.
While looking around at his soldiers and leaving the spear in the Persian's mouth, he spoke, "Today was a day the Persians will never forget."
Then pulling out the spear with a grunt, he continued, "Tomorrow is a day the world will remember."
Two ladies are in a run-down room with some high-tech instruments. One is sitting in a chair behind a desk, studying a spear in her hand. She has brown hair tied in a bun and tanned skin. She was wearing a leather jacket, a scarf, and several bracelets.
"Wow. This is big, Layla. Do you really think it's the spear?" A blond with short-cut hair, wearing a white blouse with a bow on the center chest and a black skirt, said.
"This is the one. The book was almost right on top of it. I've never been so lucky in my life." Layla said while still studying the spear. Standing up, she looked at the blonde, saying, "Okay. Let's start her up."
When Layla started walking to the instruments, the blonde said, "Are you sure we can trust this thing? I mean, this book could be-"
Layla interrupted her, saying, "Just start it, Victoria."
Victoria raised her hands and spoke, "You're the boss, boss. I'll prep it for you." Walking behind the desk to the laptop and typing into it. Layla lay down in the high-tech instrument.
Victoria started speaking in the earpiece to Layla, "Ok so… Worth noting. I've made some changes since you were last in here."
Layla answered, "There's no keeping up with the tech industry these days."
"I can crack up the simulation to maximum sensory synchronization, if you're up for it."
"Full speed ahead. I want to see everything this baby's got."
"Go big or go home, that's what I always say. Let me know if it's too intense for you – I can always change the setting later." Victoria said after hearing Layla's answer.
"This bit will let me know how much information will be fed to you during your time in the Animus." She continued
"You don't need to worry about me. I've got this." Layla answered.
"A little autonomy never killed anyone. At least, I don't think so. Just let me know if you need assistance, and I can always add the helpers back in." Victoria said.
"Listen, Layla. Before you go off –"
Layla interrupted, "If this book is right, this spear, this story… It will change everything."
"You're putting a lot of faith in a fairly unreliable source. Historian or not, this guy wrote about magical objects and the will of the gods." Victoria said worriedly.
"He's not Homer. Herodotus was the first recorded historian, so there's a lot more truth in that text than you think."
Layla continued, "I mean, what better way is there of finding Isu artifacts than by trusting in the guy who claimed to meet an actual descendant?"
"I know but –" Victoria tried saying.
"I need you to trust me. You could be right – this spear, this book, it could all be crap. But something tells me it isn't, and I'm certainly not going to let Abstergo find out first. This is the best time to do this when they have their hands full with that mysterious organization." Layla said, interrupting Victoria.
"You're right. We haven't got much to lose anyway. There's just one small problem."
"What is it?" Asked Layla.
"This manuscript is in rough condition, to say the least. The DNA found on the spear has identified three different individuals. However, the weirdest thing is that we can only access two." Victoria sounded confused toward the end of her statement.
