Chapter 29 - Spineless and brainwashed (nothing magical)

Audera loosened her magical influences on Fenik and his girlfriend, the effect was instant and voluminous. Fenik started thrusting all of a sudden, as if he hadn't slept for several minutes already.

When both he and his girlfriend started moaning in harmony, Bardeelus' team got creeped out beyond expectations.

"To think I'd escape such shows already," Driola whispered from afar, "His penis seems smaller though, he's pathetic. What my father did to his wives was… creative."

"Your father made you watch?" Audera asked, as she heard the other. "No wonder you slit your wrists back there."

"I peeped myself," Driola corrected, "No one made me watch, I just liked how his wives moaned. Call me gay or whatever."

Audera felt creeped out, so she simply ignored that answer, and focused on Fenik. What she focused on now wasn't any better, as Fenik seemed clueless, and needed over a minute to notice the 'intruders'. His incompetence was annoying.

"Traitors," He later said, and took care of his private parts afterwards, before he yelled out. "Guards! We've been infiltrated!"

"Calm down you howling dog," Bardeelus finally spoke to him.

A moment later, he collected some heavy questions to ask. "Everyone's asleep, and we can kill anyone we please. Now, you have five minutes to explain yourself; Why did you sell us out? Help me spare you, say something smart."

Before Fenik could even answer, his girlfriend spoke for him. "Oh, just kill us already. He begged me for sex for a whole year. Do you really expect him to say anything smart?"

That was when Audera intervened too, "She's right, and we don't have five minutes to spare. My spells are wearing off, and even if I cast new ones across the camp, the mages will be more resistant this time."

"Okay then," Bardeelus grunted, "Someone get me two bags. We're honoring Tim with a proper funeral, and we might have to toss Fenik's lifeless body in a ditch."

"Wow, calm down little brother." Fenik said, though his ego didn't let him beg. "You know you ain't got the guts to kill me. Besides, you know this is all your fault. If you didn't escape, Tim would be alive now, and you'd be filling our stomachs."

Bardeelus wanted to rip Fenik's heart out right then and there. The audacity to shift the blaming in such a situation was psychotic, and he didn't appreciate it.

He remained calm, however, and had already requested Audera's help. She forced Fenik back to sleep, which gave them a bit of time to decide on Fenik's fate.

His girlfriend simply fluttered her palm afterwards, gesturing everyone to go away. "Take him, he's more of a burden than you'd imagine. No one'll miss him, and the elders were planning to use him for food anyway."

"Can't believe you're being more helpful than my brother. You're spared, but, let me ask you something." Bardeelus fidgeted with his words, "Did they really use Tim as food? I don't see the rest of his body anywhere, and I don't want to believe this right now."

This girl didn't bother to cover herself up in the slightest. Butt-naked, she sat up and faced the other with the utmost confidence, although she prepared to deliver some horrid news.

"Tim was eaten, because the 'fearless elders' gave up most of our food to those scorpions." She said, "So don't waste your time here, go. Let me handle the rest, I'll kill all the geezers myself, and send their heads to you."

"Really?" Bardeelus asked, he was a bit confused, although terribly angry too. "Why would you care about Tim?"

"I don't," She answered honestly, "But punishment is due. People have forgotten about law and human decency, I will be their most terrifying reminder… you know, for the fun of it. I'll spare the innocent, don't worry. Go now, leave me be."

She urged them to move at the right time. The other people were beginning to wake up, and although Audera rained more spells on them, it wasn't smart to gamble here.

They started leaving the camp, and Bardeelus forced the resurrected people to follow along. It took a single command to do so, and he had them do the dirty work as well.

Fenik's unconscious body was tossed in a bag which was initially used for wheat. As for Tim's head, it was placed in a quality, leather bag. Bob the Swift, one of the geezers himself, took this leather bag out of his own tent, upon command.

Bob had been killed and resurrected, so there wasn't a reason to spare his loot. There were a few steel swords in his tent as well, Bardeelus took two of them to keep.

"We're good to go now," He said afterwards.

In every definition available, what Bardeelus had to ponder through was difficult. He lost a brother, got his sister sold off, and his older brother was worse than a coward. No typical advice would help him make the right decisions, he was stumped.

"I want to kill him so bad," He thought, "But, it's sad to lose two brothers in less than a week. I have to resist… this fucker isn't worth much as a zombie anyway."

He felt burdened, without a doubt, and it wasn't only because of this ethical dilemma. Four slaves from the camp followed him, and it was very straining to keep their hearts pumping. He wasn't the strongest mage in the world, and it was difficult to keep even one resurrected person moving, not to mention four of them!

However, their use was profound. The team were headed towards a couple of mines, where the 'scorpion earth strikers' typically resided. It wasn't difficult to find them, though, it's not as easy to deal with them.

He needed these four slaves for that matter. Since each of them had powers, Bardeelus could deliver a deadly blow against the scorpions if he pleased.

Though, he much rather preferred another, more peaceful plan. He plotted, "I gotta get my sis out of there alive, so… I might as well trade these four bastards for her, maybe Fenik too. The scorpions don't know that I'm a necromancer, so they'll be accepting literal zombies as a trade without even knowing about it. It would be hilarious at least, but the best option too."
