"Why did you come even after my warning?" was the first word that came out of Jack's mouth the moment Nox and Eve stepped inside.
"Lie. You're not happy to see us here." Nox smirked as he walked toward the bed Jack was lying on. As he got closer, he realized Jack was being treated the same way he had been back on Earth. There were no magic potion healers lying around.
Jack was being treated in the traditional way, with herbs and other medicinal substances Nox had never bothered to learn about.
The person attending to him was an elderly woman with a wrinkled face that did nothing to diminish her beauty. She worked diligently and barely glanced up even after Nox entered the room.
At Nox's words, Jack did not reply immediately. In truth, he was happy Nox was here. He had thought he would never see him again. At the same time, however, worry gnawed at him. This was unfamiliar territory.
