Chapter 25 - Episode 4/Chapter 25: The Comfy Cow Inn

It was 16:00 when Oliver and Andrew arrived at The Comfy Cow Inn. Oliver parked the truck in the dirt lot nearby, a spot designated for truck and trailers. The Inn itself was designed to resemble a large, two story barn. It was painted a baby blue with creamy white trim and dark gray roofing tiles. The billboard of the inn stood tall beside it and depicted a jolly lookin', cartoonish cow with her cute little hooves pressed up against her cheeks.

Oliver and Andrew waltz in through the sliding barn doors and are hit with comfortably cool air and the tasty smell of steak burgers and fries. The lady at the check-in counter was a busty, heavy set woman with a pretty face and a long braided ponytail slung over her shoulder. She rocked a trucker hat with the Comfy Cow Inn brand name on it and her name tag identified her as, Candy.

"Hey guys, checking in for two?" Candy says as Oliver and Andrew approach the counter.

"No, three, you just can't see the other old man", Oliver says unnecessarily sarcastic. Candy leaned on the counter on one arm and gave Oliver a fed up look already.

"You know", she says, "we have a very low tolerance for sassy sallies and smart-ass grandpas 'round here. This is a fun and cozy environment so I suggest you un-grump yourself if you want to stay at our Inn."

"He apologizes for being a grumpy an old man!" Andrew quickly chimes in. "We would like a room with preferably two beds, please!"

"Alrighty," Candy sits up and lets Oliver's attitude slide. "One king size room with two beds for how many nights?"

"Uh, just one night, right?" Andrew turns to Oliver.

"I hope so." Oliver answers. "Just one for now."

"Alright, your total is one-ninety five, BUT, since it's Friday, there is a special promotion going on", Candy explains. "Every Friday we hold the Magic Mystery where guests can try and solving the mystery of our special beverage, Magic Milk. If you solve it you earn your current stay free."

"Free you say?" Oliver says.

"Whoah! A mystery! We can solve it, right Mr. Moreworth?" Andrew says excitedly.

"I should warn you", Candy chimes in. "This mystery hasn't been solved since the Inn's establishment thirty years ago."

"Never underestimate the power of boredom!" Andrew says.

"Whatever you say", Candy says. "Oate the Milkman will go over the details of the Mystery here shortly over in the diner and club room. And here's your room keys. You're on the second floor."

A little bit later....

Over in the stage and diner room, a man dressed in a cow costume stood on stage in front of a crowd of guests who enjoyed drinks and burgers.

"Good afternoon everyone! My name's Oate and I'll be one of the few milk men delivering your milk and other needs throughout your stay." Oat says. The crowd responds with a round of applause.

"For those who are unfamiliar with this very special Inn", Oat continues. "Every first Friday of the month we hold the Magic Mystery where anyone interested in uncovering the secret to our special and exclusive magic products can go on a magical adventure unlike anything you've ever experienced!"

Andrew enters the room.

"If you manage to solve this mystery", Oat continues." you will earn a week stay for free every year at the Comfy Cow Inn!"

The crowd cheers. Andrew walks over to the diner and takes a seat on the stool. The bartender was also dressed in a cow costume.

"However, be warned this mystery has never been solved!" Oat continues. "And not even close! What makes this mystery a challenge is that there's only one rule and that rule is you must be under the magic spell of our magic milk while investigating the mystery!"

Oat holds up a pint sized carton of milk.

"This pint of blueberry flavored magic milk has enough magic in it to assist you in solving this mystery", Oat explains. "So for those interested in taking on this experience and solving the mystery, the question is; What is the source of the Comfy Cow Inn's magic?"

The crowd becomes loud with gossip and bickering about what it could be and debate if they should try the mystery.

"You may come across clues all over the Inn, but you must pay attention to what the magic tells you! it just might reveal the answer...have fun everyone! And enjoy your stay!"

"I think I can give it a shot, how hard could it be?" Andrew says while sitting at the counter. "Yo! Let me git a pint of that blueberry magic milk!"

The bartender reaches under the counter and retrieves a pint carton of Blueberry Magic Milk and a striped straw to go with it.

"There's a comfort room on the second floor just in case it gets too intense for you and you start freakin' out", the bartender says.

"I'm not scared of anything. I can handle whatever this has in store for me", Andrew says.

"Right..." The bartender says.

Andrew examines the carton before taking a sip.

"Mmm! That's fuckin' delicious!" Andrew takes a longer sip.

"Chill out dude", the bartender says. "I should've warned you to take small sips at first."

"Yeah, but I don't feel shit." Andrew says.

"Don't worry, you will. Give it another twenty or so minutes."

"Maybe it'll hit faster if i drink more!" Andrew takes out the straw and drinks directly from the carton, gulping it down.

'Alright dude, get ready", The bartender says. "In about fifteen minutes you're gonna wish you listened to me."

Over on the stage, a band starts setting up their instruments which included a drum set. Andrew places some money on the counter.

"Let me get another one for my trainer." Andrew says and the bartender slides him another carton. Andrew grabs it and makes his way back to the room upstairs where Oliver was preparing his bath...
