Chapter 11 - 11. Waver is now a chemistry major

It took a lot of explaining, but the McKenzies believed Waver's excuse of taking a chemistry major and brewing a few tonics for them as a thank you for the lodging.

With the main problem out of the way, the magi came back to his room to watch his servant at work.

The young genius was never particularly interested in potions. They were an incredibly niche brand of magecraft. They also required one to have the recipes, which were hereditary in the moonlit world.

Waver's gaze landed on his servant. He could use this situation to have her write them down, maybe even inscribe his crest with them, but seeing the incredibly precise movements and taking in the smell of the pot made him reconsider.

But the magi was surely happy to see a master of a discipline at work.

"Rider," his servant answered with a hum, "tell me how you can brew these. Wouldn't it be the job of a Caster Servant?"

The Servant smiled clearly proud of herself, "Huh huh. I'm just built different."

"However to answer this question, dear Master, throughout my whole life the most joy and value I received from potions. Brewing them was my hobby, pastime, and a job. In the army, I was the main provider of them, I used them in battle."

"Potions were such a huge part of my life that even after materializing in a different class the knowledge nor the ability went away. But if you are curious, Master, if I were to be summoned a Caster, then the brewing part of my potion creation would be entirely skipped."

Angélique's thoughts wandered back to the war and her brewing tent.

Though her face scrunched when a certain boy entered the picture.

"What do you want, Prelati?" she almost spat at him.

The alchemist was almost as pure evil as it got, sowing chaos whenever he went. She really didn't want him next to her precious potions and ingredients.

"What I want," the boy started, "Is the access to brewing equipment. Any would do at this point. You have been hogging it since we arrived, Angé!"

The knight glared at him, "I never gave you permission to use my nickname. Nor the name, you enculé. Casse-toi."

He brought his hands up, "Hey, why so aggressive. I'm here to do my job, remember? You are not the only alchemist in this squadron."

"And I told you a hundred times that the permission given under hypnosis is invalid!"

"Trivial things." Prelati waved the sound accusation off, "I would rather like to know what you are brewing this time!"

Angélique sighed in defeat, knowing that there was no way to get rid of the little pest, "It's a prototype stimulant. I want to give the strength of a magecraft enhancement to normal humans."

Prelati hummed in thought, "And you used the betony instead of a blowfly this time?"

The knight blushed, "And how do you know about last time?"

"Let's say that the smell… Lasts."

The blush deepened and Angélique threw her ladle at the boy, hitting him square in the face, "Quel idiot… "

"-and this is my last potion, the silent explosion." Waver watched as his Servant corked the last potion on the table and fitted it to her belt. It was blueish-purple with a tint of green, "The name is pretty self-explanatory, but it basically creates a small, controlled, and most important, silent explosion if it comes in contact with air and force."

The magi nodded. The effects of the potion were hard to recreate using magecraft, but not impossible. He even had a few ideas how to achieve it, and it was finally time to expand his crest a bit.

But with the first preparations out of the way, and his servant clearly ready to go out, Waver couldn't help but ask, "Rider… Are you going somewhere?"

The magi would probably allow it, but he was still the master, and so he felt incredibly disrespected.

Rider had the decency to at least look ashamed and turn to face another direction.

The master shook his head 'A small reconnaissance won't hurt, I still need to place the familiars in proper spots.'

"I will concede this time, but you need to remember that I hold the command spells, and you are the servant here."
