The night was still young, and the streets of the town remained lively despite the darkness. Many young couples wandered along the riverside, each carrying a paper lantern in their hands. Some laughed and chatted as they walked, while others stood by the water, watching their lanterns drift away with the current.
Among them, however, was one man who walked with heavy, dragging steps. He held a beautifully painted lotus lantern in one hand, but his gaze remained fixed on the ground as though he barely noticed the people around him.
Guilin eventually stopped beside the river and looked out at its shimmering surface.
Under the moonlight, the water glittered softly, but all Guilin could see was Kui.
