Warkinels was a totally different from the world I was from. It was a cruel world. Everything here was more dangerous. This was a world that tested one's patience. Being alive was primary and growing stronger was secondary. If one can not even live to see the light of the next day, how can they get stonger.
First turning into a tree then encountering a mosquito that tried to end me by sucking my energy and now the beast that could have trampled me with ease. And the interesting thing about it was all of these things happened within the span of mere two days. If I had not been more cautious, I would have died two times already. Just after reincarnating as a damned tree.
There were laws and regulations that made us feel safe in my previous world but here laws and regulations can only be limited within one's fantasies. There was no regulation for the strong. The beast trampled on the forest. The mosquito and its kind sucked on the energy of any living thing it took a liking to.
Who would come to advocate for trees where even one's own safety was at a risk. Sitting on a AC room and talking about how rich exploited the poor was easy. But here where the survival of the fittest was the prime principle of living no one would even spare to think about others.
Here strength wins, strong ones makes rules, implements them and break them as well. They can do anything they want. The level 8 had already killed many people. But what could anyone do about it.
People with no strength has no say. Become strong and talk about your own survival. Even the mechanical voice refused to answer due to lack of strength. Appearance of that beast reminded me of the facts of this world and I was aroused to focus on getting stronger.
The global ranking of players was going to take place in 6 days. I wanted to appear on global ranking to obtain the benefits mentioned by the mechanical voice. But I understood the fact that appearing on ranking was no easy task.
Benefits of global ranking would probably be something mind blowing and everybody would want to get it. There were even monsters that were already creating heaven and earth like gaps between me and them. It was like rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. I would take a step but others would have already climed a floor.
I had to focus on filling the gap between me and others by leveling up. "What level had the level eight player gotten to now ?" Suddely a thought crossed my mind. Level 8 would surely be the one to take the number one position in the ranking. But I should not le left behind. Catching up to others should my focus now.
PLAYER WITH THE HIGHEST LEVEL IS AT LEVEL 10....
The mechanical voice gave answers to my thoughts like always. Two levels within half a day, it was not bad but why had it so drastically reduced. Did the level 8 start to slack off thinking others would never be able to catch up to them.
Gaining eight levels in the first day and half of another day had already passed but only two levels. Had that person not heard the story of the hare who took a rest while the tortoise won the race. I would be happy if that was the case as the gap would not increase that much and even I could dream of catching up.
THE AMOUNT OF EXP POINTS REQUIRED TO LEVEL UP EXPONENTIALLY INCREASES WITH EVERY INCREASE IN LEVEL....
The mechanical voice sounded once again pissing on my dream of catching up. If the experience points grew exponentially did it not mean that the amount of exp points to get to level 10 was same as that of getting to level 8. It might even be a bit harder.
It meant that even increasing our level by one would require a lot of exp points at that point. Was I a sworn enemy of the one behind the mechanical voice in my previous life ? I could not enjoy a moment of happiness. All my dreams were taken away by the cold breeze that was blowing past me.
But I was not demotivated by what the mechanical voice said. Getting stronger without any challenge would feel like cheating to me.
A little challenge would definitely make levelling up more challenging and fun. And now I even had a refrence point. With the level 10 as my motivation I will surely work even harder to gather energy and level up.
As the monster was gone and there was no source of disturbance here. The monster will not be back to kill a level two plant that posed no threat to it. I would like to be like that beast moving freely in the accursed world with no fear.
With a new found motivation I closed my eyes went back to my focused state. Now that I was at level two, the focused state of meditation would yield more exp points with which I can level up even faster.
I had a innate advantage over others. A tree had various sources to gather energy. And I did not have to move around to hunt those beasts to gain energy. I can just meditate and grow stronger. Hunting beasts surely posed a greater threat than staying here and gathering energy. The efficiency of gathering energy would also increase with every level up making it a win win situation.
Now that I think about it, loosing mobility to gain another source of getting energy was not a big deal. My inability to move freely sure came in clutch to save me from this godzilla looking monster.
With a new found motivation I closed my imaginary eyes once more. Slowing reaching the focused state thinking to myself that only a level up notification could disturb me and bring me out of the focused state now.
But this thought of mine is shortly broken by something that I had not expected. It felt like this world hated me by letting me get disturbed time and again. How can one be so unfortunate. Had I used all of my luck in my previous life.
