Freed from their 'duty' but also stunned by the fact that they had failed it, it took the four Nascent Soul Stage experts a moment to react, but before they could rise up in rage and assail Di Tou, Di Tou simply walked forward and picked up the half mummified body and stared at it for a moment, inspecting the mummified figure, who still barely had a breath of life in them, but was now so disoriented they couldn't even properly glare at Di Tou, instead looking forward with glassy eyes.
At this second glance, and much more up close and personal this time, Di Tou could tell the concept they had resonated with was sand, or more specifically, the ability for sand to squeeze out and dry out life wherever it went. Of course, this also eventually came with a similar but opposing concept, of tidbits of life that managed to craw through the sand, and survive, and it was that concept that was allowing this figure to just barely stay alive.
