"SleepyWonder, we have finished collecting everything. I see no more follow-up attacks. I think we should move forward under extreme watch," Meemee reported.
"I agree," Enyo replied, "I am getting bored just watching over, and I see no reason to do more than just stockpile. The Yaglow is dead and netted no information, and sticking around here just might let the others flee. I have been watching the skies and have not seen any lifts, cargo haulers, or lorries lift off, but they could have one to bring supplies up. They are probably packing it up to run away with some of the minerals to sell so they can rearm and steal another claim later," Enyo informed me, and I nodded.
"Then we collected what we needed, and all of this is being recorded. Emma, you are our rear guard. Meemee, you will scout with your drones, and Enyo, do what you have been doing, and I will run the point." I said, grabbing my assault rifle and pressing it against my shoulder. "Keep ready for combat, but move quickly. I agree with Enyo that they might be trying to flee if they have some type of cargo hauler. Let's go find out; let's move, ladies," I barked over the comms.
"Understood," Emma replied.
"Got you," Enyo replied a moment later.
"I'm swapping drones to recharge batteries and deploy fresh ones. I will replace them on the go," Meemee informed us. I saw drones coming back into her backpack, with fresh ones launching to replace the old ones.
We left the base, and the rolling hills made things annoying. I pinged the map to the closest mining camp, and we started to jog while keeping ready to shoot at a moment's notice. To my surprise, Enyo seemed perfectly fine keeping up with her heavy weapons, and her expression was very attentive. I was honestly astonished by the veteran's display so far. She had been very precise with her ammo and used minimal ammo to deal with maximum damage without wasting anything. That was something I never even could do when I used heavy weapons. The temptation to unload four hundred rounds of ammo was hard for me to overcome in my past games, but she overcame it easily.
I shook my head and made sure to pay attention to myself, again, and not my teammates. Everything we were doing was being recorded, and I could review it later. I was very impressed with how things were shaping up. We jogged over two hills and had two more before reaching the next mining camp.
"Slow down, Sleepy. We have a tower, and I think I see someone in the tower with a sniper. I don't think he-" Meemee stopped, "Everyone, Cover, I think we have been spotted!" She shouted, and we all dove in different directions as the sudden sound of a whistle came through and dirt lifted off the ground.
I quickly swapped weapons, rolled, and asked, "Where is the tower?!" I barked.
"One thirty," Meemee barked back, "He is lookin- SHIT!" Another gunshot sounded, and Meemee cursed, "I got hit!" She barked, but I was already looking through the scope, and I found the guy shooting at us. I took a deep breath, pulled the trigger, and said, "You got him! I am hurt in the arm. A through-and-through my arm. I am okay; I am bandaging as I scout ahead. The others in the base are getting ready for us inside the mining camp. I count at least five, but I have not gone close." Meemee faithfully reported.
I swapped back to my assault rifle and got back to my feet, "Ladies, let's move; Emma, watch Meemee and help her if she needs it. You are her babysitter while you watch our backs. Meemee, tell me if there is any more movement. You have been doing a great job," I snapped over the comms, "We are moving forward. I want you to give Enyo a general position, and we are going to start with some heavy fire on their prepared positions," I told the team.
"Oh, this is going to be fun," Enyo replied. She moved up quickly, running faster than someone with a minigun should. I started to jog forward with her as she ran up.
"We have someone climbing the tower to get the sniper!" Meemee barked over comms, and I knelt and pulled out my rifle, feeling the weight in my arms once more. As I looked through the scope, I noticed a green guy climbing. I quickly aimed him up and grinned as I pulled the trigger. I saw through the scope that the hit was slightly off what I wanted, but the hole in their chest told me they would no longer be a threat. My heart was pumping in my ears, and I quickly swapped back to my assault rifle. We reached the top of the last hill, and Enyo was smiling as Meemee highlighted the locations, and Enyo started.
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
She swept three locations, and screams started to sound from the camp. We moved forward as Meemee reported, "Good hits! I am moving drones in to see if there are any more!"
"Move forward," I ordered, and we moved into the camp as a group. It was a quick assault, and bodies had been torn apart. "We are not going to tally everything here and put it in a pile. We are moving to the last mining camp." I informed everyone as we looked around quickly, and I smiled. "Ladies, good news," I said as I looked at the storage area, "I think we hit them just before they were about to sell. This warehouse is full of minerals, too!" I announced.
"There's Nothing like Free credits just because you got the timing right," Enyo said. It's too bad I am not getting any of that, really. I know your company needs it, and I would rather have a good, stable paycheck at this time. "
"Same; I am so happy to be out of the gang life," Meemee joined in. "I see no one else in camp, but be on your guard. I am moving my drones to start to scout the last mining camp. I think we should take a couple of minutes so I can look at my hit."
"Good idea, get those drones out, Enyo; watch over us, Emma, do a final sweep, and make sure nobody has a hand on a gun anymore. Don't need to be ambushed by someone we thought was dead."
"Yes, Sleepy Wonder. " When I returned from Enyo, Emma and I moved to Meemee. I knelt beside her and looked at the shot he had taken. It was part of her arm and missed all her gear.
"How is the arm?" I asked.
"I administered some painkillers, but it really is in a spot that does not matter to me for combat. I am still fully combat-capable, although a little high on painkillers. Hurt like a bitch when it hit. But," Meemee paused, "I think we have a guy coming up. It seems he is trying to sneak up. It looks like he is preparing a rifle. Some type of long gun. He is an easy pick off," Meemee reported.
"Just take him out then," I told her, and she nodded, and suddenly the sound of a light gunshot sounded, "Took him out. Seems dead. We should double-check as we go to the next mining camp. I think I am good to move."
"Everyone ready then?" I asked.
"Ready," Enyo replied.
"Give me a minute," Emma replied, and we waited. I found a woman!" Emma reported, and we all turned as she showed up with a woman in a mask. Her skin was a light blue, and she had fuzzy-looking ears and tentacle-like parts on her arms. She had at least four solid-looking limbs, and she looked scared.
"Tie her up and leave her until we need to move," I replied. Emma looked surprised but started to follow orders.
"Please~!" The woman cried.
"We will come back for you after. We are moving quickly, and I don't trust you at this moment," I told her, and Emma continued to tie her up. "Meemee, we need to get movin. Has anything changed?"
"No, we are clear, I do not have sight of the next camp."
"Then let's move as soon as this girl is bound," I replied, and not even two minutes later, we were on the move after putting the woman in the shade, bound and with a fresh respirator so she would not die. No reason to kill her, and I wondered where she had hidden to escape our sight for so long.
That did not matter as we moved through the rolling hills. Now, you can see the expanding ocean from one side. We left the surrounding mountains and went for a jog, going up and down hills. Emma was having the hardest time, breathing heavily and carrying our supplies.
"Spotted the mining base with four towers on it. They are ready for us, and I think I see a bunch of activity inside," Meemee faithfully reported. Meemee is the most valuable player to me right now. Holy shit, this would be so much more dangerous without her.
"Copy that. I am going to move up, and you try to get more information. I will see if I can take out anyone on those towers," I replied.
"I see at least two active snipers in the towers. They do not seem- Three active snipers, none seem to have spotted us so far." Meemee reported.
I got to the crest of the hill, lay down, and let my passive armor make it next to impossible to see me as I readied my sniper rifle. Lying down was much easier than my last two shots with my arms. I was feeling it a little in my arms even now from holding up the rifle on my knees. I looked down the sight and located the first tower. "I got one in my sight; I see one, and he is looking in our direction at this moment."
"Copy that, DOWN DOWN DOWN, give Sleepy time to line up a shot," Meemee shot over the comms, and I was taking my time. The wind was almost non-existent in my last fights, making the shots much easier because of the cliffs shielding us. Now, I felt a slight breeze to my left and a bit towards me. I was no professional sniper, though, so I was just-
I felt a moment that I should pull the trigger just a bit above and to the left of the guy now looking toward me with his sniper, and I watched as there was a sudden hole in the guard tower and the man who had yellow skin faltered back and fell off the tower with a new hole through him. I turned and scanned for the next tower.
"We have movement!" Meemee reported, "They might not know where we are, but they know we are looking at them. I see two snipers looking in our-" The sudden sound of a shot was heard, and I heard Meemee click her tongue over the comms. "They found my drone. It seems they are now looking out for my drones!" She snapped, and I turned. I found them looking more toward the sky for the drones. It was a surprise they had not thought of that sooner, and I found the next target.
"I got one in my sights," I reported faithfully, lined up the shot, and pulled the trigger. The loud bang hit something on their end, but it was my turn to click my tongue as I saw a hole in the tower. The guy was now looking more frantically now, knowing he was under fire. He ducked and was peeking out, which was stupid, but I got ready and fired another, and this time, I saw the guy stagger as I hit him, but he did not look dead to me. "I hit for effect, but no kill on one. I am going to move on. Keep an eye on that target to see if he can still shoot!" I reported and found another tower.
"I got eyes on them; they are hiding behind cover," Meemee reported. "I got people on the ground coming; I think they are looking to interrupt the sniper battle. Enyo, if you come up over the crest in ten seconds, you will have a nice shot, I believe, for three of those coming."
"Roger, counting," Enyo said, and I found my next tower and ignored Enyo.
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
Sounded, my target hit the cover, and I grinned as I pulled the trigger. A moment later, I saw through the scope a body falling from the tower.
"All three are dead, Enyo," Meemee reported as Enyo backed off back down the hill towards us, getting back in cover.
"I got another on the tower," I reported, and Enyo has now become our operation's information center.
"Noted, I think we need to move up. I see activity, and I think they are up to something. I am moving my drones forward." Sudden sounds of assault rifles sounded, "They spotted my drones, using evasive patterns while scouting!" Meemee reported, and I got up, swapping weapons.
"Keep an eye on those towers, too; I don't want to get sniped!" I ordered.
"Got it!" Meemee replied.
"Moving up with you, SleepyWonder," Enyo reported, and we moved up together, going past the first crest, and gunshots continued to ring out over the battlefield.
"They took out a drone, but I found out what they were doing. They have a nice heavy lorry down here, and they are loading it up. There are six people running containers into the lorry, and they look greedy. They want a nice, large load to leave with. We need to move before they are ready to launch, which I think will be soon."
"Enyo," I quickly said, "Open us a hole in the wall with that nice gun you got there. We are moving in hard. Meemee, get ready and cover us. Emma, move up. We are moving hard and fast, and we need you with us. Enyo, you are our front girl; I will be to your right. Emma left, and we hit them hard and fast. Meemee gave us the best information and covered it with her drones. No delays!" I barked.
We moved forward, and Enyo grinned as she brought up her gun once more.
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
She made three lines and made a nice garage door for us as we ran toward the shitty mining base walls. It looked like a hardened plastic, and we moved through it hard with the bullet holes allowing us to smash through.
As we busted through, guns no longer pointed at the sky. I saw my target, and I saw one aiming for me.
I pulled the trigger of my assault rifle and saw the first rounds end their green lives. I changed to the next target, not allowing myself to think as all I could hear was "BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!"
Enyo was going crazy, and I was putting someone in my sights and then just unleashing hell. I ran into the air lorry and pulled out my handgun, and I ran to the front past a bunch of canisters and materials and pressed my gun to the head of someone in the pilot's seat.
"Surrender or I blow your fucking brains out!" I snapped.
"I WILL, I WILL!" A feminine voice cried back and put her hands up, and I grabbed them and tossed them to the floor hard and started to bind them. I heard the battlefield outside continue, and I was breathing heavily as I finished tying up one captured person. I moved outside, and I joined my team.
"We have people in a defensive position at the back with the materials, and I think they have hostages," Meemee reported, and we moved.
