Lu Qian silently looked at the phone watch, wiped away a tear, and in the end, couldn't bear to ignore A Yao's presence.
He pressed the answer button, but said nothing.
On the other end of the line, A Yao's deliberately soft voice came through.
"Lu Qian... how is everything? Brother Li has fallen asleep... I snuck into the bathroom to call you, I can't speak loudly."
Lu Qian hesitated, unsure of what to say.
A Yao, seeing that he answered the call but said nothing, curiously asked, "Lu Qian, what's wrong? Did Uncle Jih really scold Lu Fang badly, and you're feeling upset about it?"
Lu Qian recalled what he'd overheard outside the side hall, and tears started to flow uncontrollably.
"A Yao..."
A Yao was startled upon hearing his tearful voice.
"Ah Qian, what's the matter with you? Are you crying??"
"A Yao... I'm feeling really upset, I ran away from my uncle's house..."
"What? Why did you run away... what happened? Where are you? I'll come find you."
