I moved to another tree and positioned myself directly in the line of sight of the people fighting.
Let's do this. I don't really know how to throw it, but hopefully it'll land. Luck has been on my side the entire time I've been here, so I hope it wouldn't be too much to ask for it to help me one more time.
I took a deep breath and focused all my attention on this one task.
Lady Luck, guide my spear!
I released the spear in the direction of the smaller of the two girls, watching as it drew a wobbly path to my intended target.
As I expected, it was off by quite a bit and landed far away from her. Startled they stop their fighting and looked in my direction. I ducked behind the tree while clenching my teeth in frustration.
Luck, couldn't you have helped me out a little bit more? After all you've helped me with when things seemed so dismal, you're just abandoning me here? I should've known not to trust you.
Well then, what do I do now? Should I move ahead with my previous plan?
I spoke out in a deep-ish voice while running from tree to tree to make it seem like my voice was coming from all around them.
Since the trees were rather far away, hopefully they wouldn't hear the noise from me jumping around.
"What do you think you're doing here?"
I made my voice as menacing as possible to instill a bit of fear in them. With any luck- Wait, luck isn't helping me out anymore, let me rephrase that- I hope they won't be from a higher ranked group, otherwise they'll see through my little trick.
Wait, I could see them fighting, right? That should mean they're from a lower ranking group.
Now, there was something I had yet to realize as I made my assumptions about power levels in groups. Just because they were from a higher group didn't mean they were better than me, at least at this point. That might have been true for the groups like Group 9 and 1 that were training their Hani, but not so much for the others
The classification that was used in the first place we're the management guessing about which people would grow more compared to the others.
They might have been initially right, considering how most of us died in the fight club, but as we trained more and more the gap got lessened between us and the groups that hadn't started their Hani training
When you're at the bottom, the need you feel to rise to the top is much grater than those in the middle.
After the fight club, a lot of groups had slacked off when it came to training while we sped up ours
That made it so that if I fought those people down there one on one, I might not actually be that disadvantaged. But I had no way of knowing that.
They looked wary at the sound of my voice, which was natural I suppose.
I imagine I sounded like some child trying to make himself sound older by formulating a deep voice.
I kept leaping from tree to tree while keeping my voice steady.
"That was your first and only warning. There won't be another one. Leave one person behind and the rest can go free."
The two girls looked at each other for a few seconds. They were probably having a mental conversation of sorts.
I could even imagine it. It was probably going something like, 'Should we really believe what he's saying?', one would ask. The response would be,'Do you really want to risk it?', after which there would be momentary silence followed by the conclusion, 'Not really'. They'll now turn back to me and agree to my demands. Oh, they're even doing it right now. Am I a genius or something? I can even read minds
"We refuse."
Eh?
I stopped running around and stayed in one place.
Did I hear right?
"If you want our kill, you'll have to take it from us."
Normally, I would be applauding such bravery in the face of adversity, but that's not important right now. What my mind needs to be on is the countermeasure I can use against their blunt rejection
Should I throw another spear? They don't seem to be on guard right now, so maybe if I'm able to hit one the other will abandon her and run away.
Hmm.., but there's something wrong with my strategy, almost like I'm forgetting something…
"HEY!! What makes you think I'm going to stand here and watch you decide my fate?!"
A voice roared.
I snapped my fingers in realization.
I forgot that guy wasn't down for the count yet! We've been here talking about what's going to happen to him while ignoring his presence. I can imagine his irritation.
If he wants to butt in, I can let him have it.
I gripped another spear in my hand and held it with my palm facing upwards.
Let's try this again.
I released it for the second time towards the guy.
It was just as wobbly this time, but it actually hit its mark this time. Somewhat. If you can call pinning his hand to the ground on target, then it was definitely on point. Not just figuratively, but literally.
He screamed in pain with crimson blood leaking from his hand.
The two girls were visibly more frightened now, I could see it on their faces now.
"Do you understand the position you're in now? I can keep those coming as long as you want. Just test me."
I solidified the mental shock that I had given them by threatening them some more.
They didn't bother to argue with me anymore and took off running straight away.
After they had gotten a safe distance away, I got down from the tree and walked over to the guy who was desperately trying to remove the spear from his hand while enduring the pain.
I killed him straight away without giving him any time to talk. Can't take any chances.
