"Besides this bird, what else is up there?" Charles asked the one-armed guide, looking up at the purple fog continually being split open above them.
"There's an invisible monster. We can't see what they look like, but even if we don't go near the forest, they still appear on our ship and kill our companions."
At these words, a hint of fear appeared in the guide's eyes. She touched her amputated arm, as if thinking of something terrible.
"The dead have lacerations, as if someone meticulously tore their flesh and skin from their bones. My hand was torn off by it. I could feel many small hands forcefully breaking my fingers. I don't know what it really is."
